My Friends said i should post how i bond with Tweek.
I think eating stuff that you and your MHD both enjoy is a great way to connect.
I share the following foods with Tweek.

Sushi (not the rice)
Mealworm pupa’s
Ants
Squirrel meat
and Roasted crickets

I only share with Tweek once a week.

I actually like the taste of that stuff, don’t deny it till ya try it.

You’re not "connecting", you’re giving yourself chronic diarrhea is what you’re doing!

Okay, I’m sorry, but what country are you from again? Squirrel meat? What, do you pick it up of the road, or you do just make weekly visits to your gramma’s and take your BB gun? And how in the world does your MHD eat sushi when it isn’t alive? Also, I hate to break it to you, but this bonding I think is only one way. Nature is what our imaginations make it out to be. So if you really feel this is healthy for you and your dragon, well then great, but you might want to go back to Vietnam.

I agree with Evan, I like my food cooked and from one of the common farm animals. Not squirrels... Good lord...

You are one strange person (If it were Evan I would have said something a little more vulgar than "strange person")

®yan

P.S. Have you tried earthworms yet? Delicious! But you have to eat them them alive. And post pictures of it so I can laugh at you.

Everything above this is the most disgusting thing I have ever heard. Eating some of the things you said were bad enough, but sharing them with a lizard? What is this, Fear factor. Gross, let us know when you dunk your head into a barrel of pig eyes, or go swimming is cow blood with your lizard. How in the heck do you get your lizard to eat squirrel meat? Do you blend it into a meat smoothie. Needless to say at this point, I am revolted and have to go vomit.

(Far off retching sounds, water splattering, toilet flush.)

OK, I’m, finished. Esio, whatever you think helps the relationship between you and your lizard. I would never indulge, though I hear there are some homeless people who make the best out of squirrel where I am from.

Ok guys. Nothing wrong with squirrel. If they are old or cooked wrong they can be very tough but lots of people eat squirrel, opossum, and raccoon. You don’t even have to be homeless. Being southern helps though. And knowing the proper way to cook them.

What about frog legs? Tastes like chicken. Haven’t had them in a VERY long time but they were good.

I’ve seen recipes for mealworms but I don’t want to try them. Any survivalist will tell you that grubs and worms can save your life. Guess they are nutritious but unless I’m starving I’ll pass on those.

My dad used to hunt all of the time when I was a child. There were five of us and we didn’t dare refuse to eat what he hunted! Actually, cooked right squirrel is quite good! We had lots of squirrel, rabbit, pheasant and once in a blue moon, quail.

Never raw though!

Oh, by the way, I doubt that squirrel is a natural food item for MHDs. It would be very hard for them to catch and I doubt that they would eat the dead ones!

OH MY GOD! How do you eat squirrel? And Bonnie, I have lived in Texas all my life, and NEVER have I EVER deard of anyone eating a squirrel! I have even been to Lioussiana (That came out better than I had expected) And still, NO SQUIRRELS! Seriously...

By the way, ANTS!?! In Texas, all we have are Fire ants and I would never put one in my mouth! Even if it were dead! I get this funny image of Mr. Esio sitting at an ant mound picking at little ants and putting them in his mought. Not to forget his pet lizard sitting on his shoulder getting every ohter one. One for, one for me, one for you...

By far the worst is Sushi! Come on, I can cook a fish in 5 minutes, you can’t wait that long!?

Esio, would you mind me sending you my "other version" so you can see exactly how I feel about this (you might laugh) On second thought. Bonnie might enjoy it... LoL

Hi, Everyone-

I catch up on all of the posts a couple of times a week, even though I never have time to post anything....but I couldn’t let this go by without chiming in with Bonnie and Marcia. A lot of these things have been eaten not just for survival but as delicacies. I’m going DEEP south here, so I hope the ladies can back me up. And don’t hold me accountable for all spelling....in no particular order...chitlings, deep fried roe, gator tail, deep fried bream (pronounced ’brim’-fish the size of a silver dollar or so fried, whole), fried conch, fried rattlesnake, rabbit, ham hocks to season everything that used to be vegetable, and pretty much anything deep fried.

Don’t misunderstand - I’m a vegetarian so I have not spoken entirely from my own experiences, but I’ve seen it all. Some people have to eat what is available. And some people take what is available as their common fare and find a way to make the rest of us pay top dollar for it and think we are dining on something exotic.

But I digress. Down here, great dragon food is abundant. Black crickets are juicy morsels, butterflies are easily caught, earthworms are great, moths are a little smarter and elude death by dragon longer, and grasshoppers are absolute survivalists unless you pinch the back legs. But I think I’ll take Bamboo’s word for it that they are yummy.

Ryan, A man I used to date was an avid hunter. If he killed and dressed it I would cook it. My squirrel attempt was a miserable failure. The taste was good but the meat was stringy and tough. (He said it was an old squirril just to make me feel better). Rules for hunting are if you kill it someone has to eat it. I’ll bet Davy Crocket at lots of squirril. :)

Cyndilou, My dad loved pickled pigs feet so of course we ate that. Other than having little meat it was good. Then there is head cheese (not actually cheese but lunchmeat made from leftover things and held together with a gelatin-yuck). We ate heart and tounge also. Well I wouldn’t eat the tounge because my mother cooked it whole and set it on the table that way. Having a big bumpy steaming cows tounge in front of you can kill any appetite. Then there is the whole mountain oyster and sweetbreads thing. Chicken hearts, gizzards and livers were also eaten. When your poor you eat whatever is cheap or free (in the hunting case). Nothing gets wasted.

Bonnie

Have we grossed you out yet Ryan.

You know, the idea that these odd foods are only from the deep south are way off base too. My dad worked for the railroad and made several trips out west for his work. In his travels he had opportunities to try several "delicacies" and loved telling us about them when he returned home. Some of the things he told us about were chocolate covered grasshoppers, rattlesnake, and not too long ago when he and my mother took a young teacher to one of the reservations they were honored with a celebration which included a ceremonial buffalo slaughter during which the guests of honor were offered portions of the liver right from the freshly killed buffalo. My father announced that it wasn’t bad! He also brought home such delicacies as antelope, elk, deer and bear, all of which my mother had to try to figure out how to prepare and we all had to eat! He usually announced that it didn’t taste the same as when Charlie (their cook on the train) prepared it!

I grew up in the Omaha, NE/Council Bluffs, IA area. We had neighbors when I was growing up that hunted raccoon and possum and it wasn’t for their hides. I guess my brother turned down possum stew with them one evening.

So, even in the mid-west or great plains or whatever you call this part of the country there are some interesting tastes in foods. Heck, my brother-in-law gags when I order broccoli!

So, don’t they have rattlesnake cookouts down there in the great state of Texas Ryan?

Well Evan, at least we are normal.

Seriously, I have never heard of Rattlesnake cookouts. Maybe a small brush fire and some water melon, but that is it. And Bonnie, When you are poor you eat ramen noodles, not squirrels. And Marcia, I believe it is spelled ’’opossum" The O will get you : ) Also, Raising ants is weird. And you keep mentioning eating what you kill, I agree with that. But you shouldn’t kill squirrels! If I step on a roach, I don’t eat it! (I bet Esio will). Ah, you people are sick and uncivilized. And seriously, Esio, YOU ARE GOING TO GIVE YOURSELF DIARRHEA! You sick, sick, sick, sick, sick...

By the way, here are a list of the rules of what I don’t eat (What I like dictates the rules, the rules don’t dictate what I eat!)
  • Nothing with tomatoes (with the exception of pizza, but still not too saucy)
  • Nothing spicy, or even remotely spicy, or even the slightest bit of spice, AT ALL!
  • Nothing that has more than three parts to it (i.e. I like my peas separate from the carrots, no mixtures!)
  • If it smells bad, I won’t eat it. Period.
  • If it looks gross, I won’t eat it. Comma.
  • If it tastes bad, I won’t eat it. Semi-colon.
  • If it feels or sounds bad, I won’t eat it. Close parentheses.
  • If my aunt cooked, I won’t eat it.
  • If it includes any type of fungus or coconut.
  • If it is and organ, or contains and organ (with few exceptions).
  • If I otherwise deem it unsatisfactory to put in my mouth and ingest, IT IS INEDIBLE BY DECREE OF RYAN, PERIOD!

So you see who you are talking to? Someone who lives on cheese pizza, Grilled cheese, and PBJ. Of course, I eat a ton of fruit and your normal meat products. So like I said, You are talking to someone who is considered by his own family an extremely picky eater. (At family gatherings, everyone is eating lazana except me, who is eating a pizza hot pocket!)

    Ryan,
To say that this was funny would be an understatement. It was really funny.

    Quote:

That sounds like something a cynic would say, oh wait... never mind. The whole period, comma etc. thing was too funny. Very clever. What are you willing to eat that contains random organs and other meat by products? (This of course excludes McDonald’s food.) So you’re a picky eater? guess you have to be to run track. I’m not picky, but if I tried to run track I might die, literally. "Lasagna" is how lasagna, not lazana, though it certainly was creative. Burn. I can’t believe that you do not like lasagna, I LOVE it. The next time you have one of these lasagna family functions, let me know and I’ll be there.

Supposedly my mom’s is the best. And I knew I spelled lazana wrong, I was in too much a hurry to worry though. I still am! And Hot Dogs. Who knows what the hell the put in that stuff... but oh so good!

I’m getting hungry... Oh, wait, I just remembered how this thread started... I’ll be back.

Indistinct splattering and moans. Toilet flushing.

Okay, (yes I stole that from you Evan). One word on the track comment. I do try and eat healthly (What ever). But I find out now that after so long of not indulging myslef in soda and what not, when I do drink one, It usually results in this > Yeah. So I can’t eat unhealthy stuff, or I get sick. But it is okay, I don’t miss it a bit. (Soda and popcorn gets me EVERY time)

Bonnie, there are 9 buttons above the box that you type in. One of them reads "qoute". Cklick on that. then you sill see the word "quote" pop up between two brackets. Hit quote again and "/quote" pops up. Everything in between there will show up as a quote.

Esio, your a fread and don’t talk to me unless it has nothing to do with food, alright.
