My mhd is ating funny S/he is hiding. In the cage we have a piece of drift wood and it sticks up a bit and it’s hiding under that.I don’t think it has eaten in a couple of days. It used to eat every other day. There hasn’t been any poop in there either. Can someone please help me?

My mhd is ating funny Steve - when you say hiding under that is she in a vertical position on it or is she laying on the substrate? What are your temps? Do you have moving water for her? Can you post a pic of her enclosure? What kind of substrate are you using? What kind of lighting? How long have you had her? Is she CB or WC? Have you read FroggyB’s site? She has awsome care info on there...you can google FroggyB and it will come up. There are also some care sheets on this site for MHDs. Usual poops are every 2 days. Eating is usually everyday or everyother day. What are you feeding? We need more information to help you. Angie

My mhd is acting funny S/He was just laying there. S/he was there for a couple hours and then acted like her self. We have had it for a month now. Ours eats crickets and meal worms. S/he is acting normal again so we brought her out and let her run out and she seemed alright. We have a fountain in the back for her/him to drink from.
This is where s/he was hiding.
I’m trying to upload some more pics but this is the on;y one I have right now I will upload more later. Thank you

My mhd is acting funny It would be a good idea to add some more greenery...vines and stuff like that...they like to have lots of places to climb and they like to hang out vertical most of the time. It’s better to have tall rather than long on the enclosures. She was probaly under the driftwood to feel safe like she was hidden from view, that’s where the greenery would help. Silk or plastic ivy type vines and some of those twisty vines..you can twine them together and run them around the tank. If she was only doing that for a couple of hours I wouldn’t worry about it...everyone needs a break sometimes...even MHDs...they need to chill out so they don’t get stressed....also what are your temps....she might have been hot and went under the driftwood to get out of the basking light if you have one...conversly she might have been cold and went to the bottom to get warm if you have an undertank heater....see what I mean about needing more information? Good luck with her. Angie
