 Size comparisons A. Capra

A.Capra
Bruja – 77.1 grams (2wks post 2nd clutch) 13.5 inches – WC purchased as an adult October 2006 - 2 clutches from 2006. 15 eggs. 100% hatch rate.
2 clutches this year – 6 and 9 viable and incubating.

2Toe – 78.7 grams 12.25 inches – purchased as CB from Petsmart Feb. 2006– I was later told by management that they could not get more MHDs because they found out that the ones they had bought were not CB. She was young, 31.4 grams. She has never become gravid. She is housed with Diablo (male) and Bruja in a 175 gallon tall enclosure. She had missing toes and spikes when purchased and retained sheds for the first few months.

Size comparisons of babies.

The babies that I hatched are CH from WC parents, unknown father. Bonnie’s babies are CBB.

Small to large – 2nd clutch (3.5 months, avg. 4 grams), Bonnie’s Nip (approx.. 5 ½ months, 7.4 grams), Crash (1st clutch, 6 ½ months, 7.3 grams), 1st clutch (6 ½ months, avg. 8.5 grams), Bonnie’s Stubbs (approx. 7 ½ months, 12.7 grams)

Line up

Big to Small

Crash – my very first hatchling

Crash – hamming it up

Cool, great size info, and great lizards! (I know I tell you that alot, but I’m gonna keep telling you cuz they’re gorgeous!) Bruja is big, I’m not sure how much spike weighs but he’s a big buff boy. I plan to get a scale one day, I won’t need it for babies this year I don’t think, none of marlas eggs from her first clutch have turned out to be fertile, maybe spike doesn’t know how to ’get it on’ properly:) I think this means her second clutch won’t be fertile either??? She is eating fantastically again though and acting like her normal self again. I thought my other females was going to lay this year, but now I’m thinkin she’s just a bit chubby and lazy? I would like to have a scale to see how much her and my other lizards weights vary...

Hey Deri,
Thanks again! You know I’ve seen a lot of people say they are using digital food scales like Sunbeam....they say you can buy them for $20 -30 at Wal-Mart. I got a Vet Scale when I got Pandora because I had the Beardies too....it was expensive but it’s killer. I think I’d try using one of the less expensive ones if I had it to do over again. I think they are more widely available now than they were a couple of years ago.

Sorry to hear about Marla’s eggs....she just might not be ready to be a Mom yet...2 Toe hasn’t been gravid yet...I guess Diablo doesn’t desire her the way he desires Bruja....Oh well...maybe she can have some babies with Yang next season.

Hang in there...you’ll get fertile eggs one day! Thanks for posting! Angie

I got one at Meijers for $30. It weighs in 2 gr increments but it’s better than nothing.

You could try and seperate Spike and Bruja for a month or so. That might get Spike going. When I put a female in with Monroe after a seperation he immeadiatly jumped her.

Hi Bonnie,
I’m planning to put Diablo in a separate enclosure and leave the girls together in the big house when I can tell the difference between the babies....I was thinking that the big house can hold most of the girls if not all of them. It’s really got a lot of room. That should make Diablo (Spike?) get after any of them when he gets to see a woman again! Thanks for the tip! Angie

Wow, Bruja is 13.5 inches? My female is just 9 and she hasnt grown in about 4 months. So i think that is her final length. Is that unusually short or is it just becase she is a female?

Diablo (the male) is bigger than Bruja and 2Toe (females), I’ll try to measure him when I weigh this weekend and post that for you. Yin and Yang are about the same size as my three...but I have some tiny hatchlings...so maybe it’s just like people...some are tall some are short?
