I have a male that was really sick and had a broken jaw when I got him. I have had him for probably six months now, and I offered him nightcrawlers for a good four months at almost every feeding time, and he refused to even look at them. Finally one day he just seemed interested in the nightcrawler, and then he ate it! He has been eating nightcrawlers for about a month now, I still give him crickets about once a week, and it is amazing how much he has filled out and fattened up from the nightcrawlers. I think nightcrawlers are one of the best foods you can add to your MHD’s diet, and apparently they are pretty high in calcium. I also like that I only have to feed one to two nightcrawlers each time, as opposed to the 10-20 crickets that most of mine will eat at once! The other thing that mine love are waxworms, but those are fattening so I only offer tose as a treat maybe every two months or so. deri |
