Go back and read thru some of the posts that are already on here and you’ll find alot of good stuff about different kinds of roaches that some feed their MHDs. One thing I can tell you is good for sure, and that I feed my MHD’s on a regular basis along with crickets and the occassional superworm or mealworm, is nightcrawlers. Or earthworms if you have a small MHD. All five of my MHD’s LOVE nightcrawlers, although if you look through the posts, you’ll find quite a few about how alot of MHD’s won’t eat them at first.
I have a male that was really sick and had a broken jaw when I got him. I have had him for probably six months now, and I offered him nightcrawlers for a good four months at almost every feeding time, and he refused to even look at them. Finally one day he just seemed interested in the nightcrawler, and then he ate it! He has been eating nightcrawlers for about a month now, I still give him crickets about once a week, and it is amazing how much he has filled out and fattened up from the nightcrawlers. I think nightcrawlers are one of the best foods you can add to your MHD’s diet, and apparently they are pretty high in calcium. I also like that I only have to feed one to two nightcrawlers each time, as opposed to the 10-20 crickets that most of mine will eat at once!
The other thing that mine love are waxworms, but those are fattening so I only offer tose as a treat maybe every two months or so.

 Pros and cons on food

thx ive heard about the earthworms but wasn’t sure thought they may be too much 4 him considering they are 3in to 5in long was scared he might choke on them.. as with all my lizards i like to give them a variety of food as just one thing has to get old after awhile ..he does love crickets, meal worms he will eat from time to time but not often.. ill have to try earthworms and see if he will eat them . defiantly not bringing roaches in my house lol so thats not a option lol ... will they eat fruit flies the flightless kind of course? definitely dont want to give him anything thats not healthy 4 him or get him addicted to just one thing ( thats y i stay away from wax worms) thx again :)
