 Not a pleasant photo

I purchased a Gonocephalus chameleontinus from Kingsnake. It was the only one that I had seen advertised. It does not matter who shipped it, but it was offered in excellent condition. Here is a photo taken 5 minutes after I received it and took it out of the bag.

and a 2nd photo once I put it in its cage. You can see that he did not have use of the front left leg.

The shipper of course could not understand how this could have happened, and needless to say blamed it as a shipping problem. Well that did not work to well in his favor. The end result was not only a complete refund including the shipping, but the poor thing is eating and drinking. Its a she, and although it has no monetary value, I may be able to one day breed her if I ever get any males. Right now she is in her own cage, and is treated with royalty. How anyone could ship an animal knowing that the injury was as I have shown it, amazes me. Then you wonder why people are against herpers. JERRY

Hi,
You know, I heard about this, you posted on another forum??? So sorry to hear about this, there is, of course, no way that shipping did this. Even if she was packaged poorly the box would have shown signs of abuse, if it had been bad enough to break her arm. Again, so sorry to hear about this. It is these kinds of sellers that give even the good ones a bad rep in the business. It is always horribly unpleasant to open the box and find something like this inside. Good for you for pampering her though! I’m sure you’ve seen these in past, but sometimes Switzer Reptiles has them up for sale. Not for about 2 months now, but they did have some recently. You’ll find males sometime, they pop up from time to time! Best of luck with her!

Nice looking lizard except for the leg. That makes me soo angry. Thats why i never buy any animals that have to be shipped. I want to physically see what im getting. Im soo sorry to hear that. Are you going to take her to a vet? Is it treatable?

I dont know how long she has been this way, because the shipper indicated that he was unaware of the condition. Right! Insofar as a vet is concerned its something that would burden us financially at the moment. Meanwhile she is eating and drinking. I will have her looked at but not at this time. Thanks for asking. Just as a point of information, I checked out the shipper at FAUNA, and he received glowing remarks with nothing to worry about!
