 HELP!! - Hatching

I’m a total n00b at this and I’m a little worried

Out of 12 eggs 4 have sweated and pipped, but after 12+ hours the babies have yet to come out and they seem to have stopped moving. I am all kinds of nervous that for some reason they may be too weak to get out.

What seems to be the normal timeline from pipping to hatching? Should I be doing something to help the rest of the eggs?

I would give them a little more time. Especially if your temps are at the low end of the 70’s. I have helped some out of the shell but would rather they do it themselves. If they are to week to emerge they probably won’t live anyway. If you decide to help be extra careful. Those shells are tougher than they look. I used a pair of cuticle scissors and snipped very carefully. The little guys are packed pretty tight in there. Keep us informed.

 HELP!! - Hatching

Hey Bonnie,

Thanks for the help. I have 1 out now (he was the first to pip and he did it all on his own) and it seems strong and doing quite well. My temps are right on 70 so I’ll just raise the heat a little and let them go at it themselves for a while longer and hope for the best.

I’ll try for an update soon and maybe some pics to go with it.

Cheers,
Diz

Pictures are a must. We love the new little ones. You are going to have so much fun with them. The can be quite silly.

 HELP!! - Hatching

Hurrah!!

I have 3 1/2 out (one seems to be taking a prolonged break with its head out and nothing else - seems to be deciding whether or not its worth the effort) two more have sweat and collapsed and at the rate they’ve been going at so far I expect I’ll be seeing them sometime tomorrow.

I’ll get new batteries for the camera and have some pictures up hopefully tomorrow!

Cheers,
Diz

 HELP!! - Hatching

Well, as it turns out I’m horrible at updating.

Right now I have 5 healthy, happy, bouncing babies!! 4 more have pipped and if the trend holds true I should be seeing a few more sometime tonight.

While they’re *really* taking their time getting out they seem healthy and strong. They’re all drinking and the first ones that came out are starting to eat worms and crickets. I have tonnes of pics but my usb ports aren’t working so I have to wait for my roomie and his computer to get back from his trip abroad (sometime tomorrow) before I can post anything.

So far, so good! Thanks again for all your help and support

Diz

P.S. So far they’re named: Alpha, Bravo, Charlie, Delta, and Echo... I’ll wrack my brain tonight trying to find a few more for the newcomers ;)
