She’s digging !!!!!!! but shes still pretty small

well got up this morning to find her digging in the substrate

She’s back to not touching any food was totally uninterested in the silk worm I offered her today but she is growing belly wise and its starting to look a bit lumpy, but is still no where near as large as the other gravid pictures I have seen on here should I be worried?

I’m starting to work on making an incubator any tips? I’ve been going through other posts (spent 5 hrs on here last night my husband thinks i’m addicted lol), so i think i have a good idea of what to do but if anyone has pictures of theirs it would be a great help.

Thanks in advance

don’t worry about the size of her, she’s looks pretty healthy to me :) My incubators are based off the model on froggieb’s site and work like a charm. There’s some awesome info on incubation there.

Also, for those interested, I have 10/12 hatched now. All are drinking and eating and the last two eggs have just collapsed, but haven’t pipped yet. Pictures are forthcoming, I swear!

I have a long list of excuses including trying to move x-country with 10 baby lizards, 2 hatching eggs, and 8 more in incubation...

Best of luck,
Diz

Thanks she was digging again early this morning but as soon as her lights went on she was bathing in the light ... i have her basking light pointing on the waterfall now and she ran across the tank to get to it lol

she likes me again and will put her front and rest her belly on me but insists on having her hind end either on the log or in the waterfall ... they have such amazing personalities. I’m going o be looking for a male for her soon but I’m waiting to get the bigger tank first.

I’ll check out froggieb’s site tonight and go from there. thanks again I’m having a blast with this lol

She might just be having a small clutch. I wasn’t even sure Junior was gravid when she laid her last clutch. None of them were fertile.
Some females get very fiesty when gravid and don’t want to be held.
Just wait till they hatch. SOOO much fun.

She might wait till your sleeping. Then you gotta go hunting. She might also decide to lay in a different spot completely. Is the substrate moist? And how much is there? (In inches) Sometimes they are hesitant to lay if conditions aren’t to their liking. I hope you get to see it. It’s really fascinating. I have a short video on You Tube of Junior laying a couple eggs. She was working so hard. I think It was called Junior laying or MHD laying eggs.

I went searching this morning and still none ... I’ve got 2 inches of substrate over most of the tank and it is moist I have on corner built up with 4 inches and that’s where shes been digging. She has been refusing food for the last couple of days. I’m going to give her a warm waters soak today and see if that helps and i’ll add more substrate throughout and see if that helps her. I saw her rubbing her belly on her waterfall yesterday and sitting in the pool with her bottom in the water. Oh and she hasn’t had a poop since Thursday morning ... Is that a sign shes gonna lay soon. Damn I feel like an anxious parent lol. Got the incubator all set up I have an empty 10 gal with lighting lid etc so the kids will stay out of the eggs their really excited too. And were picking up the new tank this weekend to start setup.

If there’s anything I missing please let me know.

Niki

Never noticed about the pooing but soaking is a good sign. I would add more substrate. I have 6 to 8 inches in my breeding tanks. My grandaughter is always excited when I have eggs and new hatchlings. She helps me feed them when she comes over. Here’s a picture taken about 3 years ago. (She’s almost 10 now)The baby jumped right up on her face.

AWWWWWWW that’s so cute. Were heading to the store here in a few min so I’ll grab more substrate to put in there. I tried to give her a bath today but she was going no where near me lol. puffed up snapped at me and then took off behind the waterfall and gave me this yeah try it kinda look. I put some fresh warm water in her waterfall and 10 min later she was sitting in it. I also got my worm farm all set up and the night crawlers came in today so I’m good and ready to go. lol this was her this morning hanging in her vines and trying to ignore me searching her tank for eggs.
