Update on gojira’s eggs Well I found 4 eggs today they were burried 6 inches and sitting right on top of the heating pad . they were dark almost black and starting to smell bad. I have been checking the substrate for eggs everyday but didn’t think she would burry them so deep. i noticed yesterday she was very thin but still didn’t see no eggs so this morning I dug deeper and found them.
Thanks to everyone for the advice and support and I will be getting a male and will try again come oct.

Update on gojira’s eggs Oh I’m sorry they were bad. She did a good job, burying them so deep:) Only 4? That could be normal for her third clutch I think, but there may be more? Hopefully I’ll have some luck in October too, my girl Marla has layed unfertile clutches the last two years, she layed good eggs the first year I had her, but I think I messed up and incubated with too low of humidity, and the eggs developed fully but never hatched:( She’s getting older, I don’t want her to lay any more, but I have a younger female who will hopefully give me some babies! The prospect of that, as you now know, is very exciting!!!

Update on gojira’s eggs Yeah there was two of us and we went thorough the whole tank inch by inch. I was shocked too that she had buried them so deep. I checked over the tank yesterday but only went down about 4 inches i didn’t think she would go deeper and couldn’t figure out y she looked so tiny yet I could find no eggs I though maybe it was just the way she was sitting on her vine. but when I got up this morning I had decided to do a real through check and had some help.
Now I gotta find a male to breed her with. I’m really hoping to try again starting in Oct. and at least now I know to look harder.

Update on gojira’s eggs They do bury quite deep. I have my tank on a fish tank stand and look underneath to see if there are eggs. They are usually sitting on the glass bottom. Four does sound on the short side. See if you can feel any retained eggs. Juniors last clutch wasn’t fertile either.

Update on gojira’s eggs So She finally let me pick her up today she wasn’t happy about it but I wanted to check. It doesn’t feel like there are anymore eggs and she is EXTREMELY thin almost looks like she went a month without eating. Shes also eating like crazy again another 2 night crawlers today so I’m happy with that. Also I cleaned out the tank again and did an inch by inch search (took over and hour) and there are no more eggs.
Looks like I may be able to pic up a couple males here when the reptile show comes in 3 weeks Me and my husband agreed and will be starting a breeding program here in Alberta . Which I am very excited about. So here’s to learning from your mistakes and a great season starting Oct.
I’m not sure if the males will be old enough to breed they are juvi’s by the sounds of it but if not this yr then next year for sure. thank you guys for all your help though this It is very much so appreciated. And Bonnie ... I’m up for any breeding tips you may have email away
Thanks again

Update on gojira’s eggs That’s great that she’s eating enthusiastically! It is freaky how skinny they look after they lay, but they fatten back up to normal again pretty quick, especialy by eating nightcrawlers!

Update on gojira’s eggs They do get thin with saggy bellies. You really don’t need to do anything special. They breed when ready. About the only thing I can think of is maybe keep them seperate for a bit. If ready they will breed soon after putting them together. I seperated Monroe from the girls one year because he wouldn’t leave them alone when they were big with eggs. I put him in with Marilyn a few months after she finished laying and he ran across the tank and jumped on her. The only time I saw mating. It was quite violent.

Update on gojira’s eggs OK I got two tanks set up for the males and another one for Gojira and maybe another female depending on the pocket book. I’m working on a very large communal tank for them all. Should I keep them separated until breeding season? Or should I introduce them a month or two before? Also can they all be kept together (with exception to pulling out the females if the males wont leave them alone when they ready to lay) all yr round or just have them together during breeding season.
I just want to make sure that I have everything set up properly before I get the new additions.
Thanks for the warning on the skinniness of her If ya hadn’t warned me I probably would have freaked. Shes gaining weight good now can’t seem to eat enough but I’m limiting her to 2 night worms and a couple of crickets per day. Does that sound about right cause shes being a real piggy lately and I don’t want to over feed her either.
She also started molting so shes obviously a happy camper although she still wont let me touch her lol

Update on gojira’s eggs I would be careful with 2 males in the same tank. It might work if the tank is big enough but I only have 1 male per tank. He can have several females in with him. Monroe took care of 4 females last year. I had eggs, eggs, and more eggs. Then BABIES everywhere. If you keep the male seperate he will most likely be willing to breed no matter what time of the year it is. As long as everyone is getting along I leave them paired all year round. I’m not breeding this year. The girls are pretty wore out from last year. They laid 4 clutches each.
They do eat alot after laying. I have given my larger females a pinkie mouse just after. It’s not good to do this to often but it seems to help get them back on their feet. A waxworm now and then doesn’t hurt either. Just not to often. Extra calcium is also a good idea but we covered that didn’t we?

Update on gojira’s eggs YES we did cover the calcium thing lol. maybe I’ll have to reverse it and get 2 more females and a male ... hmmmmm. damn I got the bug and I got it bad I’m just so in love with these things lol. She seems to be packing on the weight pretty good now and is demolishing any food I put in there with her got her to take food from me now but she refuses to chew or swallow until I leave the room lol what a brat but i got a few good pics of her today with this giant night crawler hanging out of her mouth lol.
I don’t think shes big enough for a pinkie but I’ll keep that in mind.
How many babies do you have so far this yr Bonnie?
