 Rocky not eating

My dragon hasnt been eating. Typically he loves super worms but I cant get him to eat now. He has eaten one worm in a week and a half. How long is too long for them to go without eating and any suggestions on something else to try. typically if I put crickets in the tank he just looks at them. We just got over mites in his tank. i dont know if that has anything to do with it or not. Please help. i am worried about my baby.

Trent and Bobbi can help also. They have been keeping reptiles (and MHD) longer than I have.

My question is what did you use to get rid of the mites. It’s possible that is what’s causing the problem. If he had to be relocated for a bit while cleaning his enclosure that could also cause him to stop eating. I moved a juvenile (I still haven’t named him) to a bigger enclosure and he stopped eating. I had to force feed him for months. Then he would eat for a bit and stop again. This went on for 6 months. I used the Flukers Reptic-Aid for insectivores as his base food. I used pedialyte instead of water to mix it with. I also soaked him to help with hydration.

I would try earthworms. Hold them out in front of him so they wiggle to catch his attention. If he closes his eyes he probably isn’t going to eat right then. Keep trying. My younger dragons like to eat after a misting. If you can get a couple hornworms (from a breeder or pet shop NOT collected from a tomato plant) this might help. Mine will usually eat these when they are being finicky. You could also try wax worms although these are not good as a staple food. It might be just what he needs to get him back feeding. I try and feed a variety of items although the crawlers are the staple.

The reason I asked if the dragon is only being fed supers is that if the temps and humidity are not ideal it can lead to an impacted dragon, believe me we have had to care for one that was like this when we got her.If you question our MHD experience then I am sorry that our caring for them over the last six years is not enough.

The same questions don’t bother me but there are others here that can answer them better than I can.

The temp on the hot side is about 90 and the humidity is around 75 during the day. We did get him to eat a couple of crickets over the past couple of days. As far as getting rid of the mites I did a complete clean. Put him in the bathtub with a little water while I took everything outside and completly soaked and wiped everything down and replaced the bedding.
