Concerned Owner I want to know if anyone has had anything like this before.I ’ve been watching this for a couple of days now.And it doesn’t seem to be getting any better, but it hasn’t got any worse. I’m not sure what has caused his mouth to look like this and the only change in his (our) routine has been that the pet store that I buy his crickets at gave me some super worms to try him on. and one escaped him eating it. I thought no big deal he’d find it. But it turned into a beetle.I found it when I cleaned his cage. Which is when I noticed the start of his mouth looking the way it does. I’m planning on taking him to the vet but it’s awfully cold here in Ohio right now and I’m worried about taking him out in it. Any Ideas? Please help.

Concerned Owner I would take him to the vet right away. Maybe put him in a rubbermade tote with holes and use one of those heat packs for your hands, they last like 12 hours, to keep him warm on the road.
Does he have UVB light? The mouth picture isnt real clear so its hard to tell if its some type of mouth rot or MBD issues

Concerned Owner Take him in right away. Has he been eating at all? Has he been rubbing it on the trees and such? Can he move it? I doubt it has anything to do with the beetle unless he dislocated it. Mouth rot is easy to treat but if it’s dislocated it’ll be a lot trickier. Either way, it’s really important you take him in. There isn’t anything you can do without a vet.

Concerned Owner He has been eating,he is still drinking water. I think I found the problem last night he was banging his nose off the glass of the aquarium. He can see his reflection in the glass. I’m still taking him to the vet though as soon as this snow storm passes, winter in north central Ohio sucks.
Thanks to all of you who replyed

Concerned Owner Eating and drinking is a great sign. Just keep an eye out for infection and if he stops drinking, soak him. Does it look swollen?

Concerned Owner It looks more like he isn’t closing his mouth all the way. I can touch it, and he doesn’t act like it soar.It just doesn’t look good. He goes to the vet Monday.I had a hard time finding one in my area.
