when she gets close to laying she’ll slow down eating, and then dig. they like to lay their eggs against a hard surface, like dig up underneath the water bowl, or i have this ceramic cricket home in the shape of a rock that she laid up under last time. i think they like the rigidity to help protect the eggs. when they eggs develop enough, you’ll be able to feel the eggs, by palpating her. you may want to give her a wormer or such for parasites to be safe. i have the kind that’s a powder (sorry my husband is asleep in the room where i keep it so can’t go check the name) that you sprinkle a pinch in the water and it worms them. goodluck!! |

Thank you so much for your reply. My female had spawned before, then i don’t think she has worms. Unfortunately I don’t know the worm product you have. I don’t think it negotiated here in Denmark. Last time she spawned, she got 13 beautifull white eggs.
But after a few weeks, the eggs falling together. I work in a petshop, and there we have some powder to worms. But it’s made on onion and I don’t know about lizards can tolerate it. I would chek up the links. Thank you so much for your helping. But as substrate i use Vermiculite, do you think it’s better to use Perlite? Greetings Mathias, Denmark |

the eggs fill fail if they are not fertile, or if they are fertile, when proper incubation conditions are not present of course. the wormer that i use is metronidazole, produced by seachem laboratories. it has a little spoon that you drop that amount into their water and be sure they get into the water. i also take a fresh fecal sample to the vet every 6 months or so, just because they could get a parasite from their insects. i think coconut substrate is because it is especially made with reptiles inmind, so i think it has less chemical in it. i have read of more people that use vermiculite over perlite,i don’t know somuch about either one. i have always used the coconut fiber shred, have never had a single problem, and incubated my last eggs in them. go to this link for the incubation tips that i used: kingsnake.com/mhd/MHDkingsnake.html do you know that she has a male that has fertilized her eggs? good luck!! |
