TONS OF RANDOM NESSASARY QUESTIONS ABOUT MY MHD
Hey guys Ive been trying to breed mountain horned dragons for about 2 years now. And when i first bought my male and female the male died shortly after due to an unknown reason. So Ive had one female for 2 years now and Ive been looking everywhere for a place to get an adult male. But there are no local breeders and all the reptile sites Ive been to don’t have adult mountain horned dragons only babies. So im pretty much at my wits end and need help from anybody who knows where i can find local breeders near Binghamton NY or a goo website that offers over night shipping. Im also upgrading my cage, almost twice as big with bigger fogger and everything. ALSO Madussa my female doesn’t seen very healthy I am gonna try to get some pictures on for your opinion. Ya and since im brand new to this website how do u upload pictures : 0

TONS OF RANDOM NESSASARY QUESTIONS ABOUT MY MHD Hi Timanator,
Well I don’t if I can be much help in sexing your little one... I’m kinda new to MHD’s..I already have Iguana’s & Chinese Water Dragons & Aussie Water Dragons...but I can tell you that it’s not mouth rot..Mouth Rot is a bacterial infection which settles into the gum tissue, palate or tongue..Mouth Rot presents as yellowish-whitish plaques, or irregular blotches on the gums. If poked, it is somewhat soft, rather like curds or cottage cheese like in texture....
I have to ask, if you’d had her for two yrs..have you ever looked in her mouth before???? I’m not sure if some species of MHD’s have color in their mouth tissue or not....
But if it’s not suppose to be colored then I’d say she’s got something serious going on and you need to get her to a vet ASAP....Mouth disease’s can lead to other illness’s that can be fatal..so don’t wait..take her to a vet....

TONS OF RANDOM NESSASARY QUESTIONS ABOUT MY MHD Lepidigastors have a purple/ blue skin color inside the mouth. Finding a healthy Lep is not going to be easy they are not the type that breeders are having a lot of success with. They are in most cases wild caught and you are just lucky to find a healthy specimen. A.canthosaura is the one that has had a lot of success in breeding situations so far. Leps can be its just getting 2 healthy specimens and keeping them that way is not as easy as one may think lepidigastors are bitey angry little MHD. So it will just be a case of patience on your part on getting her healthy and find a guy to romance her. Personally I love MHD we have taken in 3 of the 4 types brought into the U.S. it is a long painstaking process to get a good group unless you are lucky to know an importer. Just take care of the one you have and keep an eye open for a boy in stores and maybe there will be some luck.Forgive spelling of MHD type not the best with spelling these long types.

TONS OF RANDOM NESSASARY QUESTIONS ABOUT MY MHD Alright thanks guys i dont know why i never looked into her mouth before except just last week. Guesse i didn’t have a good vantage point. But its good to know there mouths are normally like that. And you sure are right about leps being bitey lol. But im still working on handling her twice a day to try to get here even a little more tame. So thanks for the advice. O AND 2 DIFFERENT TYPES OF MHD CAN BREED RIGHT? LIKE MINE A LEP AND A DIFFERENT ONE?

TONS OF RANDOM NESSASARY QUESTIONS ABOUT MY MHD I have not ever heard anyone being able to cross the types. I do not think so but I guess only God can answer if it is possible. The size differences between each of the families makes one lean toward no but no positive have never checked to see if there is plausibility.

TONS OF RANDOM NESSASARY QUESTIONS ABOUT MY MHD If she doesn’t look healthy it’s probably because she’s stressed. Handling her twice a day is too much. Handling at all is stressful. They have to get used to your presence and surroundings first. The colour of the mouth is totally normal. You cannot breed the different species, they’re chromosomes aren’t in the same order.

TONS OF RANDOM NESSASARY QUESTIONS ABOUT MY MHD I can tell you for sure that it’s not mouth rot. I went through a case of that not too long a go with my MHD. Took me alot of research, because the nearest reptile vet was an hour and a half away and it was still the dead of winter here. But my local vet hooked me up with the anti-biotic for him, once I explained to him what I had and what was wrong with Izzard. Took me one week of for the anti-biotics,and 3 weeks of cleaning his mouth. And his mouth is just now Starting to get back to normal.Total time 1 month. But I am pretty sure yours doesn’t have mouth rot. One final note, mouth rot is a secondary infection. And what I mean by that is, there will be something eles wrong. Like Respiratory or GI infection. Then comes the mouth rot. This is a good link and a must have for any reptile owner in my opinion. http://www.merckvetmanual.com

TONS OF RANDOM NESSASARY QUESTIONS ABOUT MY MHD Hello, I just bought a A. Lepidogaster last week, and I was wondering if what you feed the lizards affect their coloration. Mine is a female about 6 months old. I have been feeding her super mealworms, purchased from Petsmart. I have been feeding the mealworms vegetables. What else do you feed the MHD?
