 MHD MOLD IN CAGE HELP?!?!

Hey i just finshed setting up my new MHD cage and i use cocnut bedding and mist it 3 times a day. Its a screen cage so it doesnt hold mositure very well and im getting plexi glass to but on outside to hold in moisture. But i recently noitced White fluffy mold growing on the grape wood i have in the cage. Its only growing on the part of the grape wood under the coconut bedding. I read that some white mold can be harmless and actually benificual to some reptiles are MHDs one of em? Ill try to get pics up soon

I had that same thing happen when I used to use grape wood and also with choya wood, and especially with regular real branches, on the part of the wood that sat in more moist substrate. I honestly don’t know about the benefits or harmfulness of it, I just figured it was mold and probably bad. I just took the wood out when it happened to me, but it was years ago when I first started keeping herps and I use mostly fake vines and woods now, and/or lots of live viney pothos plants, in my more humid terrariums.

I say stay away from all that stuff and put down either moss if your brave enough (could cause impaction if lizard eats it) or I use sand in the bottom of my cage it holds humiditiy pretty good and I don’t get that mold!try that . CHIP
