Lizard 1

Lizard 2

Lizard 3

All 3 were said to be Giant Plated Lizards when purchased. Hoping someone can help clear up the confusion. Include scientific names if possible. Thanks.

I am not 100% sure on this but

Lizard 1 looks like a Black Lined Plated Lizard - Gerrhosaurus nigrolineatus

Lizard 2 looks like a Major Plated Lizard - Gerrhosaurus Major

Lizard 3 is 100% a Giant Plated Lizard - Gerrhosaurus validus

With the Major Plated Lizards I think there are 2 rekognised species that is Gerrhosaurus Major , and Gerrhosaurus Major Bottegoi with the difference being Gerrhosaurus Major being rough scaled and Gerrhosaurus Major Bottegoi being smooth scaled

Hope this has helped you

lizard 1 and 2 are Black Lined Plated Lizard - Gerrhosaurus nigrolineatus and the third is Gerrhosaurus validus i would not keep them all together 1 and 2 is fine but 3 should be kept solitary with lots of hides and a very large enclosure

Are you sure 1 & 2 are black lined? I bought mine that looks like "Lizard 2" as a G.Major

what beauties! i agree with toki on classification. I had a giant plated for over 4yrs, he was the best lizard ive ever come across! im envious of your collection, where did you get them all? no one around here (central fl) seems to ever have them

i got the two G. nigrolineatus at a local reptile show for $20 a piece, and i got the two and two G. validus from an add on kingsnake for $200 for the pair. i hope to end up breeding the G. validus and eventually have maybe a couple breeding pairs of them. they are some of my most interesting lizards to observe and the care for.
