 PLEASE HELP-NEW OWNER

I Just purchased a yellow plated lizard for my son. We bought it on Saturday. It’s only eaten 2 crickets so far, today is Tuesday. I’ve offered strawberries, carrots, oranges, romaine lettuce and some more crickets. It’s not very active. I have his basking area at around 89 degrees. Does this need to be warmer?? It makes a clicking/coughing noise sometimes. Is this normal???? Or did we get a sick lizard from PetSmart??? We have a leopard gecko that we adore and know that the plated are very different. Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!!!!!!

I wouldnt be surprised if the lizard is ill, every petsmart I have been in I have never seen an actual basking light in the cages. I know petco tends to use cages that are heated by a hot air blower giving warm ambient temps but no basking spot (which is very important for health reasons) and from the looks of them petsmart "reptile" cages are the same way. I’d return it and get your money back while you still can.

I agree with Ameivaboy, take it back, get the cash back and find a breeder. You might fond one local to you on kingsnake.com

mine doesn’t click or cough but it does make like puffing noises that sound A LOT like sneezing. it actually pretty cute. my lizard has grown the nickname "boog" because this may sound gross but you sneeze when you have a cold and when you have a cold normally you have more boogers than beofre. so her names are Delilah and Boog. hehe
