I have been feeding Crunch (my 7-month old blood python) fuzzy rats that are slightly smaller in diameter than he is. Is a good rule of thumb to size food based upon diameters? I have seen photos of other snakes eating food that looks far larger in diameter than the snake.

Also, have other owners of Blood Pythons noticed that their snakes prefer to eat in the dark, or at least in low light?

Hmm I would go on how big the biggest part of his body is! They can open their mouths pretty big/wide.
He looks like he can eat a hopper maybe a small or a medium!
