My blood python looks like she may have scale rot, just wanted to know what to do about it. are pics of her.

Maybe it could be a burn? Do you have any heat pads? Whats the average temp you have? I would go to a vet!

Ya, the same one I have had for some time now. its at 92 over her heating pad, thats under the substrat a little but that is where she likes to be. And humidity is at 54%. I have to find a really good hurp vet, the one I went to miss treted RI and my poor snake dyed.

ya I would feel so bad if I didn’t do any thing and could have. I have her on newspaper to keep her dry, and am going very soon to get a thermestat for the heating pad. It would be really bad if she got a burn on top of her scale rot. She does not like being on just newspaper, she keeps trying to barry her self and she can’t. When she heals up though I’ll put more cyprismulch in.

Well I tuck out her bedding out so it wouldn’t wet if it was scale rot. she on newspaper right now with her water dish just big enough for her to soak in, and the temp on the heat pad was about 90 so I turned it down a bit. And the heat pad is totally accessible.

Well, I’m thinking now that is was a burn. It has been getting so much better, I’m not sure if she really needs to see a vet, but ill call and see if they will just check her out and make sure that every thing is going ok.

is their anyway you can put something overtop of the heatpad like plexi glass and a towl so that way she can’t touch it.
you may want to take her to the vet just so he can give you something so the burn doesn’t get infected.

oh, I misinterpreted what you said. She isn’t able to get right on the pad its self, its on the bottom of her tank on the out side. sorry feel a little dumb now. lol I called a vet I have been to but don’t know if they do reptile, but they were closed so ill have to try tomorrow in the morning.

haha thats ok. i would just see if you can get her to a vet so you can make sure thats it’s a burn. and get it treated. you can call around to different vets. in the member area on this site it has listed reptile vets you can try that. good luck.

They are all Way to fare, I call the vet that I have had snakes at be for but I don’t trust them with any thing really series like RI. I think they can make sure she does not get an infection though. And know if it is a burn or not. I just hate to take her out into the cold, I live in NY and it very cold, but as long as I have the car running and get it really nice and worm in there and run her out I think she will be ok.

just make sure she stays warm and you should be fine.

umm one other thing if the heatpad is under the glass she still may have gotten burned by it. the glass can get really hott. if you get a thermostat to hook the heatpad up to it should eliminmate being able to get burned.

sorry im just getting back, they said they couldn’t get her in to day, i have to take her tomorrow. Ill get back latter. I think she should be fine though, it has been healling really good, well it sure looks a lot better any way.

They said it doesn’t look like scale rot, its a burn, and to just keep doing what I have been. They said its healing just fine and looking really good. So she will be just fine.

Thanks, I can’t wait till shes all better.

I was trying to breed her with my male BP. I would love to get a super ball, I know a lot of people don’t like the hybrids, but I’m not really looking at it to make money just want to own one and save money by breeding my own and passably just selling the babies from the 1st good clutch but I wouldn’t keep breeding them.

Right now I’m hoping my female BP is gravid, I want to use that money and with help from dad get a pair of het pieds from nerd. My dad really wants a pied so I’m sure he would be more then willing to help pay for them.

lol me too, and she has been getting a lot brighter even (glowing?), and she had her tail kind of crinkled up or like sucked in a little. She shed a month ago from Wednesday, And I hoping that was her pre-lay shed, so I’m hoping for babies this month to real early next month.

Ya, I’m really hoping for a female pastel, I would love to breed her to my male pastel to get some supers. Also waiting on my dad’s income tax to if if we can get a pair of het pieds. NREDs has a pair for $800, not sure of the size or age, I didnt ask yet I will when I know I can get them. I will deffenetly let you know if she dues drop any eggs, My incubater run at a constint 91, But I have to get the stuff for the eggs, cant think of the mane for it right now lol. But I should be able to get it this friday.
