HELP - Need Clarification on Species

OK - I have been considering getting a Blood Python for a while now, I’ve been on this forum "Pythons-Blood and Short Tail" in the past asking questions, you know starting the research process.

So what is the difference between:
Snakey68’s Blood Python
ReptileGurl202’s Borneo/Sumatran Blood
Rebelye1183’s Borneo Short Tail Python

BTW - all of your snakes are absolutely gorgeous!!!

I can obviously see the coloring sets them apart. I assume they are all different species of a "Blood Python" or "Sumatran", not sure the breed that is their base (sorry can’t think of word).

When I was asking questions about a "Blood Python" I was told they are rather Nippy, but if worked with some get better, what about the others? Tell me, tell me......

Still very interested in these guys!! After looking at ReptileGurl202’s it brought up more questions. Does the Borneo/Sumatran Blood get as big in the girth as the Blood that Snakey68 has?

Clear things up for me guys/gals!!!

Thanks E:)~

BTW this is my boy, Marvolo,

Actually he is my daughters, but you know how that goes!!!

The Sumatran and Malaysian get the biggest. Like this girl I have.

They are not all nippy, some may be but if its a CB animal and you get it from a well know breeder it should be just fine. They also can tell you the snakes whole history and its attitude.

hope this helps a bit.

HELP - Need Clarification on Species

People continue to create confusion by calling all 3 species "Blood Pythons".
There is only 1 Blood python, (python brongersmai). It is called a Blood python because of the Red coloration that some ,but not all examples of this species exhibit. A lot of Brongersmai are also varying shades of tan, brown, and or orange.
The other 2 species are the short-tailed pythons NOT Bloods!
Borneo short-tailed python, (python breitensteini)
Sumatran,or Black short-tailed python (python curtus). Generally speaking all 3 species are pretty close in size as adults. But there are exceptions, I have seen large adult Sumatran short-tails, in the 5-1/2’ range, and rather small Blood pythons 4’ at 6 years of age.Hope this helps.

I am aware I own a Ball Python - LOL - I was just showing you what we have!!!

Kevin - Yea that pretty much clears up the "species identity thing". I thought I had it right as to which one was the "Blood".

Boy this forum sure moves slow - I’m used to the BP forum, it cruzes - lol - unlike the BP itself

Would love to hear more about the different species by you guys - their temperaments, care, etc.

Thanks tons for the input!!

E:)~

the borneo form what i have seen is refered as the smaller in size, but they all seem in relatively the same range, and they arent exactly what i would call small, lol,i got mine expecting to take hits, and hes only tried 3 times, all my fault, but they can be a bit grumpy, tyson tend to puff up when i disturb him from a nice slumber, but so far is just blowing hot air,and loves to be handeled,am loving this species more by the day,and lookin forward to adding a black in my collection soon, and thankyou for the compliments,if youd like i believe there is more pics up of him,as well as the other children on our my space dot com /reptilefryndz as well as reptilefryndz on reptilegeeks
