I saw some young blood pythons on kingsnake.com for $85.00 plus $46 shipped overnight. Thats not too bad of a price. I believe it was QFpets that posted the add. I purchased 1 from them and should get mine tomarrow.

Wow, rushing into something eh? I have to say, the cheapest is obviously a normal.

Now, do you know how to properly care for one? There are many caresheets available, from VPI, NERD, RedPython.... I would highly recommend the VPI care sheet and RedPython. Both are very detailed and precise. It leaves little room for error.

If your motivating factor in a buy is price, why not take a look first at who is selling that particular specimen? There are many untrustworthy sellers out there that do not take care of their animals, and just want to move them as quickly as possible.

The sellers and breeders that are very hands on with their animals will be priced higher than the before mentioned sellers.

You literally get what you pay for. I would take time and look through different websites and classifieds, do research on a seller, and get everything all set enclosure wise before you purchase a snake.

If you would like an in depth look at blood breeders and those that are crazy about them, I suggest going to blood pythons dot com . It’s a forum with some of the top breeders.

Don’t forget about the kingsnake forums, lots of good people over there as well.

Again, I can’t stress enough how important it is to know your stuff before you commit to a blood. They can get big, and they can get sick if not housed properly. It’s an intermediate animal, and does take more work than say a ball python.

Hope that wasnt discouraging, just want to lay it all out for you.

If you’d like, I too have experience with some bloods, and they are absolutely my favorite species of snake! So ask away!!!
