 Where to buy my Blood

I have been doing my research on blood pythons for a little over a year now. There are two reasons why i haven’t purchased one yet. They are wonderful animals, very beautiful colors and patterns and i don’t care what anyone says they are really nice snakes. But every bunch has its bad apple or two.
1. as my name implies i keep and breed leopard geckos. and for the last 2 years all my extra money goes into taking care of and buying new leopard geckos. I have managed to discipline myself enough to save $200 towards the purchase of my new blood python over the last 4 months. problem #2 is...
2. I have emailed many breeders on bloods that they have for sale and a couple will e mail back but them out of no where they just stop responding.( i wont shout any names out)
What i was wondering is what breeders everyone has worked with and if they can refer me to anyone. Like i said earlier i have $200 so albinos and such are out of the question. I also live in central Florida and will be attending the daytona show and i am sure i will find some bloods there i ( like most reptile enthusiasts) don’t like to wait, especially when you already have the money. Thank you for you help in advance and i look forward to hearing from you.

I stay in the UK so cant offer much in the way of your own area etc. Although I got my bloods from Bob Clark and he is in the US.

there will be more people here with local knowledge that can offer other alternatives.

$200 will get you a normal baby Blood python of any of the 3 species. Any less, like less than $100, I would question the reliability of the breeder.

Bloods are not good beginner snakes. Simple as that. I just cannot recommend it to you if you have no experience with snakes to begin with.

Like I said in another thread:

Simply put, the small husbandry mistakes, mishandling, and stress caused by these mistakes will result in a sick or dying snake.

Their size is also something no one really understands until they have tried to deal with adult. They get chunky, and having a very good feeding response, and the "sympathy" of their illinformed keepers results in very overweight and obese snakes.

Many people proudly boast pictures online of these stuffed sausages that are really quite depressing to look at.

They can be aggressive if WC, and many of the ones available readily are WC.

NO wild caught animals are for beginners. It’s just too detrimental for the snake when a new keeper that hasn’t the experience or knowledge takes control.

Bloods are for intermediate keepers, and someone that has an experienced eye when it comes to the SUBTLE symptoms of illness.

Try for any rat/corn/milk snakes, or hognose.... Even a ball python. Their size and learning curve will quickly teach you the ropes as far as snakes are concerned.

 Where to buy my Blood

Thank you for your help but i am not new to snakes or reptiles i have dealt with corn snakes and ball pythons and i even have a pair of redtails i hope to breed next season. I also breed leopard geckos. My question was simply where does everyone buy their bloods from, not what do i do i want a blood. The only thing stopping me was my love for my leopard geckos and the wanting to buy more. Also the petstores around me dont have bloods and the one that does has bitten me twice and come to find out had internal parasite. thank you and appreciate your help but i might be new to the site but deff not new to snakes.

My mistake, you had only referred to raising geckos in your first post.

Anyways, breeders I personally recommend:
Kara at NERD
Tracy Barker at VPI
Big Country (I’m unsure of his real name lol) at Redpython.net
Jeff Hartwig @ Jeffhartwig.com
The bloodline.com

At bloodpythons[dot]net, there are some really nice guys that hatch out some INSANE good looking animals. Always worth it to check out. ;)

I’d also cruise kingsnake classifieds and do a BOI or inquiry search on any potential sellers you’d like to buy from.

Those are the few that I have taken special interest in, and of course I do like to go to shows and check out what other people have. Although I cringe sometimes buying bloods from shows, especially when the seller didn’t breed it themselves.

Hope that helps you some, if you have any Q’s on a particular person, feel free to ask! ;)

 Where to buy my Blood

Thank you. I am thinking about going to the show this weekend. but i have to see if i work ( i work at publix so i wont know until thursday. and also i live literally on the far west coast. I am directly west of where the show is. The gulf of mexico is my back yard. lol. so it will be a little far trip. I am going to daytona though. It is my 19th b day weekend so i am going to treat myself. also the pet store i go to has a blood python. He is about a year old. He is a lil cage aggresive though. he huffs and puffs but no bite like some bloods, but once you get him out of the cage he is completely fine. I have been thinking about buying him but with him being cage aggresive i am not sure.. we even contacted the guy that brought him in. he got him from a breeder at a tampa show and had to let him go to make room for 08 babies. I was able to contact him because he is a regular at the store just like me so the owner gave me his number. I was also able to talk the owner of the petstore down from $200 for the blood to $150 just because noone has showed interest and i am the only one that holds him so i am thinking about it
