 Need to know.

I have about 27-26 days till the babys hatch, I just wanted to know when they start piping should I take them out or should I leave them in the incubator till they come all the way out?

I’m pretty sure that once they’ve been completely out of the shell and have absorbed their yolk you should remove them to their tiny tubs on damp paper towel. I’ll ask a few people I know what they do and when just to give you an idea as I haven’t bred bloods.

Alright, I emailed Jason from redpython.net and here’s what he replied with. I’m still pumping him for more information, so I’ll post that when he gets back to me. He’s a really great guy to talk with, so if you’d like to email him directly, he has an email contact on his web page.

The goal is not to have the paper toweling wet or damp, but you gotta watch these little guys as they can dry out. If you keep them too wet, then both circumstances make the snake look like a wrinkled piece of beef jerky.

Temps, 81-88....that is a gradient. If you must have one temp, I’d pick 84 degrees.

Once they have pipped the egg they start to breath air, they may stay in the egg for a day, to a day and a half to absorb the yolk.
I will put them in their own seperate boxes after they have pipped.
I uaually try to keep ambient temps. in the low 80’s for them with no hot spot.

The way I have mine there is pres n seal rap and the containers the eggs are in in the incubator, I guess I should take that off so they can breath, right?

Yup! Once they get closer to hatching, you’ll get a lot of condensation and will need to open and let it breathe daily. (I know that much!)

What is a good size food source to provide my baby bloods with? Would Hopper rats be small enough? Or should they my mice?

Are you going to slit them open at all? I assume humidity will be really high while the eggs give off more heat... They should dimple a little too. Sorry, never hatched before. :(

If you do decide to slit them open, you can candle them first to mark where the veins are, then pinch the shell and cut around the veins and take a peek inside! OOooo, babie bloods!!!

Ya, I’m thinking about maybe doing it to one, and go from there.

And they have dimples a bit. A few haven’t at all yet. But they all look good so fare.

I would love to look in on the little baby in there, and I can do that in 2 more days. It’s so excited. ^_^

I’m asking like after they come out of there egg and I put them in there own bins what the humidity should be for them, the same as an adult? Thats just what I would guess.
