You have to get a UTH (under tank heater) That will control the hot side, with temp in the mind 80s. The UTH has to be controlled with a dimer.

No, two snakes in one tank is a bad thing, house them separately.

Some people use the lamps for ambient temps, 2 is one for day and one for night, I dont use any at all. With a screen top you can cover some of the top with aluminum foil depending on how much humidity you need to keep in. So you will need to get and digital hygrometer/thermometer, you can find out at walmart for around 12$, The other side should stay at a good temp with the aluminum and the heat pad on the other end.

I hate to ask it, but have you ever kept any snake before?

I say I hate to ask because in general, bloods are not meant for beginners because of the difficulty of husbandry and knowing how to correct issues before they become a problem.

A beginner snake is a corn or ball python, bloods are not forgiving of simple mistakes, so please, before you go and purchase this snake or anything for the tank, read through this, I will try to make this as simple as possible for you.

Go to Walmart and purchase a Sterilite or Rubbermaid tub. Depending on the age and size of your blood:

12qt will work for babies up to 500 grams,
28qt for 500 to 1000 grams, and
32/41qt for 1000 grams up until they could use a large Christmas tree tub or Animal plastics T10, which measure 4x2x2.

Now, the reasoning I say to get a tub is because it’s much easier to control their climate in a tub, tanks are awful and lose a lot of heat and humidity and take a lot of work. (Fish tanks are for fish in my opinion.)

You will melt holes into the tub with a soldering iron to offer ventilation. Measure with a hygrometer until you get 60%.

Buy a thermoSTAT. Thermostats are going to be the most expensive thing you buy for this snake! I would recommend you look into Ranco, Johnson Controls, or Helix. Do not buy a zoomeds crap. Bloods need very constant temps and cannot have a heat spike or dip in temps. Especially babies because they can easily die from over heating.

Buy a digital thermoMETER. I recommend Acurite Indoor/outdoor thermometer/ hygrometer. It costs 12$ from walmart and has a probe to measure the hot spot if you choose to provide one.

Now, invest in some flexwatt or a UTH.

This is where some thinking comes in. Are you going to provide a hot spot? Generally, bloods don’t need a hot spot and can be kept at a constant temp, but if you choose to not give them one, you must be certain your temps are not going to fluctuate.

If you do not offer a hot spot, put the UTH or Flexwatt covering 1/2 the enclosure making adjustments until you get proper husbandry temps.

Here are some numbers
With Hot spot

Hot spot: 86-87
Ambient: 80
Humidity: 60-65%

NO hot spot (1/4 of the enclosure give or take)
Ambient: 82-84
Humidity: 60%

Now, please read these caresheets, since everything I told you I have learned from here and asking questions for things I needed clarification on. VPI and Kara from NERD are some of the BEST in the business, do not hesitate to ask them directly. ;)
