I just weighed Hellboy at 980g today and I haven’t feed him in over 2 weeks. You gotta love the size that bloods can attain. Plus their feeding response.

he is a beauty. Mine is about 5 months right now, still just a little guy. Now that he is back in his eating schedule after refusing for awhile I’m hoping he shoots up there. congrats again on such a great looking snake!

Not even by a little! He’s a male Sumatran Red Blood Python. Hellboy is 36-37" in my recently posted pictures 01-24-09. A male of his species can get 2X his current length and over 7X his current weight easily. Example

PS: Females can get up to 8Ft in length and obviously weigh more.

I’m going to disagree. From the a reliable source, the Barkers of VPI (whom I might add breed bloods professionally): "Most adult females measure 50"-66" in total length, most adult males measure 40"-56" in total length. Older females occasionally attain 72" in total length. The maximum size for the taxon reportedly exceeds 9 feet in total length, but we are unconvinced. We’ve seen large obese females that weighed 40-45 pounds."

 Buying Snakes

I think I just got really lucky and at the time. LLLReptiles had the cheapest red looking bloods I could find at the time. When I contacted LLLReptiles, the staff at the time did not know much about the bloods and sounded like the girl I was talking to was guessing. I personally would not recommend them at this time since there are serveral great sources on Kingsnake.com Classifieds right now! If you’re looking for a male at a great price I’d grab this blood if I was you. Pos Het Albino Blood I’ve done almost $1000 in business from them so far between individuals and businesses. I plan to take my business there again when I’m ready. Great deals and specific photos!

 Buying Snakes

A quick question, was there a point when you really started to notice Hellboy taking off growth wise (both girth or length). My Blood Carnage is about 5 months, and after a shed and a couple weeks of food refusal his feeding response has just sky rocketed. He is 19 inches right now and seems to look like he is about to start packing on some mass. I was just curious if anything stuck out in your mind. Thanks a lot!

 Growth Spurt

At 7 months he was between 700-800g and after having his first medium rat at that size. His size shot up after that cuz he pretty much doubled his weight in 3.5 months later.
