 Long Shed

How long of a "Blue" period is typical for a Blood? Crunch seems to take nearly three weeks from when I first notice him getting ready to shed until he sheds. I crank up the humidity to about 75% when I see him entering shed, and he always has a broiler pan full of water in his enclosure to soak in. This time, I soaked him in a tupperware for half an hour, and mix in a teaspoon of "Shed-Ease" hoping to help the process along. At least I got some photos of him while he was soaking:

and one photo from him eating his last rat butt-first:

LOL - relax Catfish, it is only a rock I put in the tupperware so Crunch could have something to rub against. It just happens to be about the same color as Crunch.

Well, I soaked the big guy for another half hour today, then put him back in his enclosure while I ate dinner. I just came back and saw he finally shed. I will post some photos tomorrow since this is probably as good as he will look for awhile - lol. The tough part is getting him to sit still out in the open. Such a shy baby.

I promise to leave the mystery rock out of the photo.

The rock looks like guts and internal organs surrounded with blood.

Doug: Dude, you have been watching far too many Sci-Fi slasher movies. To assure you all that Crunch did not spontaneously explode while soaking, here are two post-shed photos:
