Time between defecation? I have a question in regards to time between bloods defecating. I’ve read many things saying that it is not unusual for a blood to go several months before defecating, even cases of up to 6 months. The last time Carnage defecated (not urates) was around the end of January. He has eaten weekly since then and has not defecated. He urates between every meal since he has moved onto rats, sometimes more then once. He seems perfectly health in every way, has great sheds, very friendly, and ideal husbandry. He is growing like crazy, and putting on girth and length. So is it safe to assume that he is metabolizing his meals and using the majority of nutrients towards growth? I’m sure everything is fine I just want to double check with anyone who has had the experience.
Sorry for the Novel haha, any input would be appreciated! Thanks

PS this forum needs to wake up; pics, questions, observations, anything!!! :-)

Time between defecation? Mikey, I’m not exactly sure exactly why they retain their stool for so long. Although bloods do have slow metabolism, so like you I’m thinking that retaining their stool for so long gives them maximal time to absorb nutrients and whatnot. Marle last gave me a full bowl movement on December 30th of 2008. Ever since then its been small amounts of urine, maybe a few urates now and then. I know it doesn’t seem right that an animal could/would hold for that long but damned if they don’t. Just give it time and keep him well hydrated and he’ll eventually do it. And trust me, once he does, you’re gonna wonder how a horse got in your cage.
Heard this one in class today:
A neutron walks into a bar and asks the bartender how much a drink costs. The bartender looks at him, and says: "For you, no charge."

Time between defecation? Mikey:
Don’t be worried about Carnage; Crunch hasn’t defecated in two or three months either. He saves them up for truly impressive displays! The last time he went, I though a Saint Bernard had somehow squeezed into his enclosure. I suspect Crunch lost 1,000 grams that day...
I agree that this place is sort of dead. I would love to see more photos of adult bloods, enclosures, folks holding their pythons, etc.

Time between defecation? Alright thanks a lot for the input. I figured that would be the case, but its good to hear it from people who have gone through it. So apparently when he finally goes it won’t be hard to find lol. Crunch looks great in that picture, how old is he now?

Time between defecation? Carnage actually ended up pinching a loaf on the 14th, and also finished his shed that day also. Wow now I know what you guys were talking about, also it looked like he lost half of his body mass. I measured him and this is his second shed since 3-22-09, and he has grown 3 1/2 inches since then! He is just taking off, also I fed him another rat and he seemed to plump right up.

Time between defecation? LOL Mikey, Carnage beat me to it. Marle just gave me her second bm tonight. I’d tell you what to expect, but you’ve already seen it haha. Not to be too gross, but here’s what Marle gave me tonight:

And here’s the girl who gave it to me:
