I Skinned Crunch Today LOL - Guess that heading should evoke some comments! As usual for Crunch, he took forever shedding again. I soaked him for half an hour yesterday and for an hour today. When he started getting restless in the tupperware, I pulled him out, set him on my lap, and pulled his skin off like pulling off a wet sock. He was surprisingly good natured about the indignity of having his skin pulled off. Thank goodness he has settled down to the point where I can handle him without fear of having my face eaten. BTW: Before anybody freaks out (again), that is a red rock in the tupperware with him.

I Skinned Crunch Today He is looking great, how long is he there? Also whats up with bloods and them not wanting to shed themselves? lol I do everything right and mine never sheds in one piece, or is that not common for bloods? My boa sheds in one piece every time, and my blood’s shed usually comes off in a few large pieces. It almost seems like they get lazy and wait till the last minute to do it. I love him either way!

I Skinned Crunch Today Thanks for the compliment! Crunch is around 45" long now, and a little over eight pounds.
I bump Crunch’s humidity up to over 70% as soon as I see his eye caps getting blurry, and it still takes him three weeks and a couple of soakings before he sheds. From what I gather from other Blood owners, this is not atypical of the breed.
As for loving the breed, the older he gets, the better behaved and more fun he is.

I Skinned Crunch Today These guys are so cool, cuz of their prominant backbone, triangular shape and that mass they have it’s tough to get a one or 2/3 piece shed..A good some of water after they start clearing up from blue lubricant phase is the way to go..A hide box or enclosure with cypress mulch dampened makes it easier..btw nice blood and glad your enjoying each other..

I Skinned Crunch Today Catfish: Thanks for the compliment! As I said, the "red thing" in the tub with Crunch is a rock that he uses (or is supposed to use) to rub against while shedding. Of course Crunch is spoiled, so I have to peel his skin off for him. He obviously feels much better having shed, as he left me a large (and fragrant) surprise in his tank today. Now that he is soft, happy and skinny, I guess it must be time to throw him some dinner.
When I die, I want to come back as a spoiled Blood Python...although I’m not sure about eating raw rats once a week
