 Need a little help.

hey ok, well I want to get a Blood, but I already have an aquarium that I got a while ago I just never got around to putting anything in it, it is 48"L x 24" W x 35"H its 150 gal. so I was wondering if that would be suitable for a short-tail, and also if people could post some pics of their aquariums for some ideas of how to set it up (decorate it), thanks.

Well for one do not put a baby blood or short tail into that big of an enclosure, that large of a tank is something the snake will have to wait to be put in as it grows, too large of an enclosure will stress a small snake out. You will want to have hides on both sides of the enclosure, a humidity box is also a good isea to have, basically just a plastic type box, with an opening for the snake to get in, filled with moistened sphagnum moss, also a water bowl big enough for the snake to soak in is great, as babies they need more humidity than adults, so setting them up on a bedding that will hold humidity well is great, as larger animals, they can be on newspaper, a good sized water bowl, and humidity of 60% at that time works great in most set ups, keeping the heat and humidity is hard to do with screen top enclosures, so you may find yourself having to cover up the screen a bit in order to keep it at what it needs to be in the enclosure, for heat under tank heat is great, a heating pad can be run 24/7 and generally runs on a lower wattage than a heat lamp would, although if you want to light up the enclosure in the day time you can just use a regular house bulb for that purpose. There are some great blood and short tail care sheets out there, a great one can be found here NERD Caresheets found under either the blood or short tail section on that page, also Kara, the blood addict there is a great person to talk to if you should ever need any help, there are message boards there for bloods and short tails as well, also on a few other sites, so check a lot of stuff out on the net, and good luck in getting a future blood or short tail, they are addicting animals.
