 Big Enough?

My Male ball python is about a year and a month old. I dont know how much he weighs. He is the smaller one in the picture. Would he be big enough to breed?

He doesn’t look even close to being big enough. You HAVE to weigh them to be sure. He should weigh minimum of 700 grams. Get a digital gram scale to weigh him with.

I have to agree that he looks a bit small yet, unless that is a monster female next to him. Anyway, males have been bred at as little as 450-500 grams, but it is risky as they will literally breed themselves to death if given the oppurtunity. i would say wait until the end of the year to try him with a female. that should give you time to gradually fatten him up a bit.

No, but he would be big enough for a snack for the other BP you have it in with!!!

Males need to be around 700/800 grams

Females need to be at Least 1500 grams (500 grams/foot)
and ideally in a third winter.

I was thinking the same thing.. If he is 1 year he should be a lot larger..I have had my male for two months (he’s a month and two weeks) and he weighs 108 grams.. He was 46 when I got him.. I feed him 1 large hopper (or two small fuzzies when I can’t get a hopper) a week..

And if your housing those together I am suprised the small one hasn’t gotten eaten yet..

yea males can sometime breed at 8 months ,i dont know about the weight thing but i beleive those people know what there talking about. ya also my younger male is a year and three months and pritty small to , a little biger than yours but not much

its not really a big deal to house together i mean ive housed a burm and ball before nothin happend but that was for breeding temps i tryed but now hes with my female ball again as long as u feed them enough and have enough room it should be fine

Really? 136 grams? maybe its 1360 grams? lol My year old female is 700+ grams....your snake makes mine feel fat lol. I still think she is a bit small for her age...Man you should try feeding him more often or bigger meals? Try a rat pup or something....

I’d probably take a fresh stool sample to a vet to make sure your male ball doesn’t have some type of parasite or worm that is stunting it’s grow because a year old male ball python should definitely weigh AT LEAST 500 grams if fed girth sized prey on a weekly basis.

Sorry, I was trying to be mean when I laughed earlier, but everybody else is right that your male ball would literally end up a snack if you turned your back for your female ball.

from the pic it looks like that male could eat a juvee rat it does look bigger then 136 grams for sure
Switching to rats would help fatten it up a bit also

Boricua kid 19, there is no such thing as a het pastel, its either pastel or it’s not. Pastel is a co-dom, when you breed a pastel to a normal you get pastels and normals, pastel x pastel will give u supers, not sure how much of what though. Sorry but all you have is a normal. Might be lighter so could be called a high gold, but thats about it.
