 Incubator Question

When breeding, is it almost required to have an incubator, or can i just let the snake nurse the eggs by herself. Or can i just put the eggs in a tuperware with my heating lamp? My lamp is not adjustable and always keeps the same heat. I can adjust it by the height from the eggs. At twelve inch distance the heat from the lamp always heats to 85 degrees in the room that i keep my snakes in. Will this be acceptable?

 Incubator Question

Both of those ways would be fine but getting an incubator is the best way to go because you can’t be sure the eggs will come out fine the other way.

 Incubator Question

Ok, i will consider the incubator. But if anyone has ever built one, can you tell me how much it costs to complete?

 Incubator Question

I built a mini one. It has a cooler($20), with a box full of perilite in it($5), a water dish for humidity(free), a foot and a half of 3" heattape($3), and a Herpstat thermostat($110).

Total is around $140, mostly thermostat. It holds 2 clutches of ball python eggs. I plan to upgrade to a refrigerator next season.

 Incubator Question

I’m kinda new to breeding and my first time I tryed to let the female do all the work, they didn’t turn out. I just bought a hovabator incubator and have heard good things about it, of course I only have 1 breeding pair so a small incubator is just what i need. It was only about 50 bucks with shipping.
