Yes, you can cross a Burm with a Retic. Bob Clark sells his Python M. Bivitattus x Python M. Reticulatus for 2500$ each on his website, and his ([Python M. Bivitattus x Python M. Reticulatus] x Python M. Bivitattus) for 1500$ I think... It would be very hard to breed the two togethor I imagine...

Yes it has been done..they call the offspring borneo bateaters..in the times it has been done the fertility and hatch rate from actual producings is typically low.

k i know you can cross breed in the same species... but is it possible to cross breed with morphs of the same species such as taking a labyrinth Burmese or a tiger reticulated python... or maybe even breed them together? i ask cause it seems that people have only tried to the basic of the breeds. And if you could what do you think would happen?

Its still a burm..and its still a retic..morphs are just the freak animals that pop up and turn out to be something different in a part of their genetic makeup like recessive, co-dom, dominant.

This might be a stupid question, but Iím going to ask it anyway. Why do they call them borneo bateaters. Where did they get that name???

Well years ago when they first popped about, a guy called tom crutchfield, if memory serves me well, tried to pass them off as some new type of snake, and thus he coined the term for them borneo bateaters, and well, it evidently stuck, all I can say is they are a big favorite of mine in terms of hybrids, and when they create the jungle retics, also another good looking animal, and the variation each clutch can have in their appearance is something else too.

are they fertile? cross breeding of species that are more well known like the mule, or a liger, tend not to be fertile. i was just wondering :)

The bateaters are in fact fertile..and have been even crossed back into retics, which they they call a jungle retic.

they have been bred back to retics, and burms, never to each other sucessfully (boreno x boreno)

and so far none of the morphs of retics/burms have been sucessfully passed on ie Albino Bateater

Cross breeding is for "Designer Snakes" aka new morphs, its Hybrid not mutt (they are not dogs)

Speaking of Mutts though, they do make good dogs :) LOL

idk... did you see the pic of the ETB/ATB.... i donít think you can call that designer anything. it looked like a very skinny emerald that someone threw up on.. As far as the diamond jungle crosses i guess my only problem with that is the fact that if more energy was put forth in breeding diamonds pure then there would be that many more for us to enjoy... it seems like theyíve become an endangerd species in the pet trade..

i will say carpondros are amazing... not such a fan of the burm/ retic thing.

I like the burmxretic X retic or Jungle Retic which you need the bateater for. No I did not see the etb/atb. But I know all the Jaguar carpets are cross bred somewhere, there arenít "pure IJ jaguars" Yes I would like to see more diamonds myself, maybe the price would go down a bit on them.

ACR, has some nice pure carpets, but wants an arm and a Leg for them, but when you sell to him he wants to pay you under what its worth.

My burm and my boas were together two seasons ago whilst my burm was gravid, i was hoping for my boas to mate but the boa was more interested in the burm. Nothing happend cause she was already gravid and the boas give live birth.
