 Question about growth

I have heard of people doing this to control the rate of their growth and how big they will get.instead of moving up to larger prey they just feed more amounts of smaller prey. Is this safe I know a guy that has a 6 foot conda and its a few years old. It seems like its healthy but i rather get a second opinion. I have always wanted a burm but i dont have where to put a +10 feet snake i thought if i could do this i could keep it at 9 feet or so. So in other words i just wanted to know if it worked and if it is safe.

 Question about growth

in my opinion thats the worst thing anyone could do........basically it’s saying don’t feed your dog as much cuz it will stay smaller. how would you like to have someone not feed you when your hungry cuz they want you to stay small...

i think that if you cannot house the snake when it’s full grown then you should go with a smaller species of snake. i’m not trying to be rude with my post but just telling you what i think....

 Question about growth

im not leaving the snake hungry at all. Thats why i said that i have heard of people giving them the same ammount of food. I heard that was makes snakes grow is the size of the prey. Lets see that i have to feed it 1 bunny to keep it grow then if i feed 2 big rats its the same ammount just a smaller prey hence reducing the growth rate. I did not take it as an insult dont worry i know what you mean i wouldnt keep a snake that i cannot handle. Which is why i am asking if this is safe and works.

 Question about growth

no size of prey but the same amount is still the same amount of food weather its 1 rabbit or 3 rats. feeding your burm according to size and weekly or bi weekly feeding is proper if your looking for a smaller snake consider a boa or invest in a dwarf burm. or if you can handle a male burm possibly getting over 9 feet then i would recommend a male but i wouldnt go trying to keep an animal small with improper food accommodations just use your judgment, if you think you cant handle the size it possibly can get i wouldnt get a burm then.

 Question about growth

yeah even if it’s two smaller prey items they will add up to the same amount as ane big one... i prefere to feed my snakes one prey item the size of the widest part of their body.

 Question about growth

Well if you re looking for a bit smaller then burms then mabe try a redtail or maybe a dumeril or something. Burms get big. Fast. Poo alot....eat alot.....if you cant provide the food to make it grow at a natural rate then your best choice would be a boa i think. I dont really know but i think dwarfs are like in the 4 digits....a bit too much for my taste....

 Question about growth

lol thanks of the answers guys. Oh and i do have a dumeril ( 1 of my favs) and i had a red tail but i gave it to a friend for hes bday i miss him D=. I am not worried about not being able to handle the size cus i have held 15 foot burms and with me the bigger the snake the better. The only prob is my dad he is not so big on the snakes that get over 10 feet. Again thank u guys for ur replies and help. I’m still trying to convince my dad and don’t worry i am experienced with snakes i know i can handle a burm its my dad that’s not sure. Which i don’t get since I’m the who’s gonna take care of it. Maybe by summer ill be able to convince him. Any ways thanks again u guys for the help ^^
