all depends... the retic can grow longer... and will probably be more aggressive.. but as far as speed.... all depends on how well/often you feed and the physical health and sex of the snake..

good answer except retics are IMO no more agressive than burms when raise properly. I have seen both species that were agressive. and both that were gentle as a lamb.

good point.. thanks.. I’ve never owned a retic, but all the books say how they’re not recommended as pets.. in general.. same with African Rocks.. I’ll take your word over that, since you have actual experience.. I know what you mean about each having the potential to be aggressive.. burms are ’supposed’ to be so docile, from what you read, but my first one, a normal, was mean as hell... the albino I have now is sweeter than that lamb you’re talking about.. I guess there are plenty of exceptions, and the only way to tell is to interact with them as individuals and not generalize their behavior, as so many books do... these forums are great for debunking myths that are printed everywhere..

agreed , problem is so many people take what they read as the word of god and , IMO this is the reason so many states have outlawed large constrictors. They look at a few problems but never look at the bigger picture to make their decissions.

my son has a 2 retics , and an albino burm

on the growing question ours are pretty text-book
we got a tiger retic, and the albino burm the same month a year and ahalf back
the tiger is about 1 foot longer ( almost 8 feet)
the burm is way fatter and heavier though (almost 7 feet)
we feed them both the same size rabbits and about the same time ( about every 10 days)
they`re all very tame , always were , i agree its all in the individual snake.
i also have a cooks tree boa . everone says how nasty they are. mine has never tried to bite me. i don`t hold her often , maybe once every 2 weeks , but she`s just not agressive
we`ve even caught burms in the everglades area . one was so nasty we couldn`t get near it without getting bit . one calmed down within 2 days , still snapped , but not everytime
one ( 3 footer)was as tame as a captive-bred

snakes , dogs , cats , birds , you have to physically go and check the one you like out , see if the one you like is compatable to you , and visa-versa
