ive never dealt with mites before how do i get rid of them and how do you get them to begin with so i can prevent this happening again

My albino burm had them really bad on sunday. He was covered in them. I believe he got them from the aspen bedding I was using. I put him in the bath tub to kill most of them then put a no pest strip in his new clean cage. So far he is looking pretty good. I was told the no pest strip will kill the left overs.

Others have said to wipe them down with vegetable oil, but put him in the bath tub first, that will drown most of them.

Everybody I have spoken to seems to use Prevent-a-mite. My python had mites when I first got him; I had to treat him and his enclosure with Prevent-a-mite. Haven’t had any problems since.

or u can go to walmart and use lice bedding spray RID it works really good and only 3 bucks i use this and it works like a charm

Take the snake and water out of the cage,then get rid for lice spray and spray the inside of the cage evenly.Let dry completely and put the snake back in,do not put the water back in for at least a day.Done.You can do it again in a week or two but once should be enough!No fancie remedies here.

It might kill the mites,but your not going to get rid of an infestation with it.It does not kill the eggs!!,You are going to think the mites are gone for a while until the eggs start hatching.This is why rid works so well,The active ingredient in it is permetherin which also kills the eggs of the mites.

i personally do not trust reptile relief one bit, i used it with my Retic and the next day it ended up causing a neurological problem and he died. i wouldnt use it on baby snakes

mites are gone i couldnt find aany of products mentioned but bought siphotrol 1000 sprayed whole viv while giving my burm a 2 hour warm bath and kept her in a rubbermaid tub for 2 days after viv treatment now nonmore mites GIANT SMILES HERE SHES FINALY OK BEIN ALOT OF WORK LOL SO WORTH IT
