BACK FROM THE VET So I have had this burm for around 3 months now, in quarantine of course. I took the snake to the vet to get a stool sample and have it checked out and everything was good but the vet was not able to sex it. So I called a great pet store down the street and the guy told me he could do it so I took it down there and found out that it was a female. Funny thing was, it was sold to me as a male. Yay for me I suppose, though now I have to give her a new name. Anyways, she can go down into the reptile room now. Ill post some pics of her when she gets out of shed. She is around 10ft and 50lbs. I know it was a pointless thread but I felt let letting you all know. Thanks for reading

BACK FROM THE VET Not a pointless thread at all, good to see that you took it in and quarantined her, then took her to the vet. Good stuff, keep us posted.

BACK FROM THE VET thank you, I am in the middle of building a new room to house them all in. As soon as it is all set up I will borrow a camera and get some pics up of them. I have been a member for a little while now and never posted any pics.

BACK FROM THE VET congrats on the clean bill of health.. not to sound sarcastic, but what kind of vet can’t sex your snake? but a pet store employee can? I’m assuming he/she knew they would be examining a snake when you brought it in.. just seems like standard procedure for a ’checkup’.. how to you rate the growth of a burm when males and females grow to different sizes and you don’t know which it is? anyway.. at least you know.. I have a female albino burm (8’)...

BACK FROM THE VET Yea, there is only 1 vet that is a reptile specialist around here and they are not ever open when I am off work . So I had to go to this vet who told me he can do a few exotics (snakes being one) but he was not a specialist. Anyways, I did not know he couldn’t sex them until half way through the visit. He was qualified to do a fecal sample at least though. I do plan on switching to the reptile specialist vet once my work hours lighten up. I can say though that the pet store I went to is excellent, they give out good information and are by far the cleanest pet store I have ever been to and the owner is very knowledgeable with animals of all kind.
