 SICK BURM!! HELP!!!

I rescued a 10ft male burm on 4-22 and he weighs less than 30 lbs. I’m not sure how much he should weigh at that size but I know it should be alot more than 30 lbs. He also sounds like he has an upper respiratory infection because hes wheezing. He also has scale rot. He is dehydrated and lethargic. But the vet in our area can’t see him for almost a month. Is there anything that any of you can recommend for immediate action. I am going on Wed. to a meat farm to get him a rabbit but am afraid he will be to weak to eat it but I need to get him nourishment in order to get him strong enough to fight for his life. He is so sweet. But he was neglected. When we went to pick him up he was in a really tiny cage that was only 4x2x2. And whats worse there were 3 other snakes crammed in the cage with him, the same size as him with no water and no room to move. I soaked him tonight to hopefully make him feel a little better in a tub of warm water. He’s in shed as his eyes are very cloudy. As soon as can find my camera I will post pictures. He is a magnificent animal and will only get better now. Thank you in advance for anything you can do to help.

 SICK BURM!! HELP!!!

Soak him in some water with either electrolyte drops or pedialite in it. That will help get him hydrated. Make sure temps are up, and humidity is at least 60%. It could be he doesnt have an RI, but rather symptoms frm low humidity.

Once he’s been kept in good conditions you’ll know whether he has any illness better. By then it sounds like you’ll have him to the vet anyways.

If he wont eat on his own, you can try tubing him or putting a small meal in his mouth and see if he’ll go ahead and take it down once put in his mouth. That is if you have someone to assist you.

 SICK BURM!! HELP!!!

Thank you I thought I would need to inject intravenous fluids subdermally. I never knew you could soak them in pedialite. Do you know how much I should put in the tub? Do you know by chance what I should use on the scale rot? He has it pretty bad from being in such unsanitary conditions. It didn’t look like he had changed the bedding in months. It was wet and dirty. And we went through a little of a cold spell not long ago and he had them outside it got down to the 40s at night and it had no way of getting heat. I’m honestly surprised he’s not already dead. Just from the exposure alone.

 SICK BURM!! HELP!!!

For the scale rot you can use some triple antibotic ointment with out pain killers. It should come off within the next couple sheds.

 SICK BURM!! HELP!!!

I was told by a friend to use iodine but I wasn’t sure will that work to? I’ve never had a snake will scale rot because all my snakes that I have had a while are in pristine health. He was one of 3 that I rescued but the other 2 are in fair condition just way under weight. The 10ft female burm (also a rescue from same home) about 35 lbs again way underweight. And a 10ft retic (also a rescue from same home) weighs about 22 lbs. I think that is by far the most under weight but other wise her scale are in pristine condition. All are dehydrated by unfortunately he took the brunt of the neglect. They were all together with another 7 ft snake that I don’t think will survive. I didn’t take it because I dished out $300 because the guy wouldn’t turn loose of them for less of the 3 I took and he want over $200 for the other snake and he also have a 16 ft burm I think male that he wouldn’t turn loose of for less than a grand. I f I had the money I would have taken all of them but I knew I would have my hands full bring these 3 around. He had the 3 I have and the other 7 footer in the same 4x2x2 cage literally stack on each other with no water and no heat. I cried the whole way home from the rage I felt for this guy. I couldn’t believe that a human can be so cruel to animals he supposedly loved. I am very passionate about my snakes and hate when people miss treat snakes. If I could rescue them from every home I saw that were being neglected as bad as my babies were I would but I am one person and can only do so much. I still feel guilty that I left 2 behind. I cry at night knowing they have no water or heat or clean bedding and I could save them. The living conditions were appalling. Anyone who is passionate would have been as furious as me if they saw how this guy treated his snakes.
