 Breeding size confusion

I have been attempting to read up on the process of breeding Burmese pythons. The problem I am having is finding matching information, everywhere that I look says something different as far as size goes. I know different people have different preferences but what are the actual sizes that they can be bred? Weight and length? I have seen sites that say 4 ft for males and I have seen some that say 7-9 and everywhere in-between. I have also seen sizes ranging from 8ft-11ft for females with a weight of at least 30lbs. I know age is a factor too but I was just confused on the sizes. If anyone could clarify this for me I would be very grateful. Thank you

 Breeding size confusion

4 feet for a male breeding sounds insane to me its like a 12 year old having a kid probably not impossible but really unlikely. I always understood it as 7-9 feet for the male and 9-11 for the females size is a conundrum as well those fat snakes you see have bad clutches or bad sperm count and the skinny ones will have worse. Your animal should be a healthy weight for its size and not over weight. It’s like puberty in humans, some people go through it as of 12 others as of 15 or 14 or 13 this rule applies to snakes i would wait 2-3 years just to be sure from what i can make out they should be ready by then

but dont take my advice i have one burmese that i have never bred therefore you should talk to bebo’s burms alf or grunt there extremely experienced and will know LOTS more than i do about this i gathered my information from research

 Breeding size confusion

Burms can sometimes breed at or around 18 months old(the age they are at the second breeidng season after they typicallt hatch each year).

But as stated, they dont always take, some do some dont. As long as they are healthy and have good size at that time/age things should be fine. And one could see what they end up with.

Males typicallt breed well at 7’ and up by 18 months old. Again, some may be late bloomers. Females sometimes are mature along with enugh size by this age, but can vary too. 35 lbs is the minimum recomennded weight, though heavier/longer is better. So yeah, its better to wait til they are 2-21/2 on average for more viable clutches.

Its up to the keeper to judge if their burms are healthy enoough and big enough to breed at the chosen time.

 Breeding size confusion

Thank you for the replys. I do not plan on breeding quite yet but I am pretty sure 1 of my females is large enough. I have a 10ft female that is around 50lbs and then a smaller 8ft female but idk how much she weighs atm. Then I have one 6 1/2ft male that is around 12lbs or so I believe. Anyways, thank you for all the help
