 Sexing question?

hey yall i was just skimming throught the forums and seen that some people do some kind of a scale count to tell whether its a male or female how does that work so i can make sure my snakes are what i think they are ( or at least what the guy who probed them told me they were).

when probing a female will only probe between 3-5 scales and a male between 7-9 granted there are always extremes on each side but these are general counts to snakes I have probed. hope this helps

not trying to sound stupid but when you say

does that mean that the probe will go either 3 to 5 scales deep or 7-9, or is that the number of scales around there butt/crotch. is there a way to tell other than probing whether it is a male or female, because i had my snakes probed but the way my burm is growing i have my doubts to whether its a male or female.
