 New normal, picture heavy.

Just got this guy from beardens burms, he’s suprisingly docile for a burm. doesnt hiss doesnt strike.
he loves to explore EVERYTHING. im keeping him in a 6x2x2 so he can have room to grow into it for a while.
his name is Waffles =]

so tell me what you think?? =]

He looks good. I’ve heard good things about Beardens Burms.
A 6x2x2 seems way too big for him...

It is.
i plan on keeping him in that tell he reaches around 9 feet or so
he generally tends to stay in the hide or sit on the the rock under the heat light anyway.

He may be stressed out because his cage is so large.

Hey, are burmese pythons usually agressive torwards you? I have a burm and shes 8 n a half feet, had her since she was a baby and she has never bit anyone, i dont even think I have ever heard her hiss. Did I just get lucky with a nice burmese or what?

That isn’t the way burmese pythons are. They are docile and relaxed creatures. The only reason I would ever suspect them to hiss or strike is if you are messing with their food or intentionally pissing them off. Other than that...idk. And im not a dude ^-^

Well, truth be told, I guess it all depends on the way you have raised them. If you have had one since infancy and treat it with love and care they are bound to be docile, wouldn’t you agree?

well my first burm is 4 1/2 ft. and he’s still hissy but hasn’t struck me in a couple months. used to bite me everyday. he still strikes out at the cage once in a while when he’s in a mood. he’s an aggresive eater to he’ll eat a rat everyday if i was ignorant enough to feed him that much. but i just got one at 8 ft and she neeeevvverrr hisses and is very tame. and i just bought a juvenile albino granite and he has not struck me once. even the aggressive ones calm down to a point if you handle them enough. but yea sometimes you just get lucky with one and you don’t even have to work with them.

Im telling you that has to be a result of being treated badly from birth. We got Achilles when she was 3 or 4 feet and she was fine. It all has to do with who was her owner before she was yours.

I know this is an old thread, but I want to say something. It has nothing to do with being treated badly. 3 or 4 feet isn’t a baby. Baby burms are naturally defensive, and view everything as a predator. Most snakes are this way when they are born.
