Looks good as far as I can tell, but I think a 7-8 month old might be a wee bit longer. That all depends on feeding and enclosure and ect. But yeah looks happy and healthy to me.

fanx dj arlt....i dnt reli no how old citrus is...all i no is that i bought him/her about 5 months ago and he/she was about 30’’ then and nw hes/shes about 5’, ive been feeding him/her chicks or small rats as he/she wil only sometimes eat rats, and prefers chicks ive been trying to move him/her onto rats but he/she only ate rats a few times soo ive been feeding citrus 3-5 chicks every week for about 8 weeks and i know they are really a good source of food as they can be really fatening but i am trying to move citrus to rats .....fingers crossed lol

Yeah retics are good snakes though. I love the one I have to pieces. I went from a ball python like 10 years ago, to not having a snake for a few years, then a redtain and had her for about 6-8 months then i got my first retic. I think the biggest thing with owning one is space and money. Thats what got me in the end.

It doesn’t sound like you have enough experience to handle retic. You said you have had it for about 8 months. It should be around 7-8’. Not 5’. Now you might just have a slow growing snake tho. How often do you feed it?
And if you don’t mind me asking how old are you?
And do you have two people to help you when it gets 6’?
Oh and very nice snake.

lol im 15 and ive researched reptiles since 6 years old!!! ive done alot of research on the husbandry on snakes and lizards and their localities and size and description. you may think that im just a normal kid who wants a retic to show off or because its cool! but actually i have a GREAT interest in all reptiles particualy pythons and monitors. i know their species, latin names, size, and husbandry so i guess i am ready for a retic but i took a MASSIVE step which is not really good...i went from 5 corns, 2 beardies, 1 BP to a retic!!! oh and bearded i said ive had him for 5 months and he/she is about 8 months old!!! and yes he/she is rather small for its age but its because of his small feeding problem!! bob clarks original albino WC retic was caught at 9’ and remains that size so it isint that bad! and citrus seems to be getting better now as he ate a small rat last night for the first time in 8 weeks!!!!

Nice! im 15 too I started when I was 12! So yea im getting my 2 retics soon maybe around 5 or soo months more or less! Im getting into monitors a little more now Ill prolly get my ackies this year or next maybe this year. Anyway im going to breed mine( retics) in a couple of years and then get more snakes keep them and breed them and then keep monitors as pets!

Cool Im going to get a classic tiger or super tiger female and a sunfire male and breed thoes and ill come out with sunfires and suntigers or if I breed the super to the sunfire I get all suntigers! So im excited about that even thought its a while from now! You should sex your snake (by poping by a vet or profesional) and then get the opposite sex then that one is! Its kinda weired most breeders sex their snakes before selling who did you buy from?? Yea I alot of monitors and some I just dont like! lOl
Im starting off with a ackie at first then after a while ill prolly get a argus then maybe a yellow tree,black tree and blue tree, Then like in ten years maybe (or less) ill get some lace,water,croc,nile monitors. I really want to get a black tree,yellow tree,nile,lace! thoes are my must monitors!!! are you planing on getting any monitors soon??

omg yuur me lol good luck with your future prodjects!!! i want to breed monitors when im older and do something like proexotics! well i bought ma retic frm a guy who gets imports frm spain! i didnt no dis until i got citrus lol and i found out citrus is WC!! but very healthy  im getting round to sexing ma tic and im too scared to pop citrus in case if i hurt him/her!!! lol Also you have to hold their necks while doing this and citrus REALLY hates that lol i also luv lacies!!! and perenties i wana breed them aswell but they are expensive but very worth it lol

Ohh you should of asked a little more before buying! Well if he doesnt bite alot you dont have any problems! Poping isnt bad actually I think its better then probeing but thats just me I cant really ask my snakes what they want lol. I would like to breed lacies in the future but just spending around 8,000 or more for a pair would be a walet breaker! I dont mind spending 10,000 or more on a reallly nice retic but the thing with monitors is they eat alot more and poop alot more! I feed one one tuseday my reptile store has one for sale its like 5 ft and 4,500$$ hes a wc animal! I would like to buy him but I dont have the experience and money I have a 10 X 6 X 7 cage but I dont have money for him lol!
when I least expect it I will have my lace and nile! Gl with you and your breeding too!

i know i dnt care on the price of any animal...if i want to buy a boeleyns python for £13,000 then ill save up but when im older i want to make it into a strong hobby maybe a career!!! as for space when im older (like about 25-30) i dont care if i get a house with 2 rooms as long as i have a gigantic garden to build a.....sort of conservatry thing, but it needs to be massive!!! and ill give monitors like albigs,waters,niles, perenties,lacies,B/T, crocs 30’X20’X15’ LXWXH FOR A PAIR and 25’X15’X15’ FOR A SINGLE MONITOR! lol thats ma ambition lol

Okay sounds good. You should have worked with large snakes before you actually got one, but it sound like you are prepared. Just ALWAYS make sure you have someone around you once he hits 6’. I can not stress that enough every time you feed, clean change the water, open the cage MAKE sure there is someone there with you. Don’t want to see you dead  .

It’s easy to check snakes to see if they’re male or female. Just "pop" them look it up on google i think you might find a few videos on it I didn’t try it until i saw someone do it. Hope this helps. btw I’m 12 and i was looking into monitors just because my parents gave me a full room, but im changing my mind and thinking about retics again i might get a yellowhead from Bob Clark.

No offence but can you hanndle a big snake?? I mean I lift weight I can handdle a 80lbs animal and by the time it gets bigger I should be stronger! I might get my own reptile room depending when I move but you should wait a while longer! JUST get get a dwarf retic! they can grow 12ft nothing wrong with that! How are you going to pay for a animal that eats rabbits ,jumbo rats when its olny 4-6ft?? I dont have a job yet but I have to work for my parents by cutting the grass 20$ doing a $h1t load of work for not much money! Idk if your parents aprove then do it but remember females get 16+ft and males can get up to 16ft usually14-16.

i no dats wat i said...its best to be experienced at pooping or you can reli baly injure dem soo im thinking of taking to da vets and payin £30 to get citrus sexed which is bout $60!!! worth it dow.................ive seen a female 3’ sula for sale!! im talking to da man and we might be sorting something out!!!!!!

I can get a jumbo rat for $5 at the pet store and once the time comes to start cutting grass i’m usually cutting at least 3 yards $20 each twice a month

I can get my jumbos for like 3.50$ At my reptile store they sell for 5$ too but im not going to buy from them! I cut the grass to for 20$ but thats still not enought I need to get a job soon and then I will be happy buying my animals what they need. Can you afford a 520$ 8ft cage?? You need to be smart with this because your parents will suport you till a certain point! Then its all up to you!! Take your time getting it because then in a couple of years your going to regret it! You dont want to clean 10+inches of poop all the time you dont want to spend 10+$$ weekly for a 10lbs rabbit! I need a freezer and im going to buy frozen food from now on but the freezer will make my power bill alot high and then my parents will force me to pay 1/2 of the electric bill!!! Well if your up to it then do it but think smart!
