Retic not responding to antibiotics We have a rescued retic that’s only about 60" long and was eating well until she developed a bout of mouth rot. We put her on baytril and ran its course. However, the swelling has not subsided although her appetite returned? I’ve raised the temp and she’s still eating. Has anyone got any better suggestions???? Thanks!

Retic not responding to antibiotics sometimes stomatitus(sp) is caused by stress not just infection. if it is eating it should in no time cure itself. as crazy as it is retics have a great healing process of thier own. keep the temps up and keep it clean . give it time to go through a shed or 2 and you should see results. in the mean time keep the handling down to lessen the chance of stress. Are you sure it is mouth rot and not a shed tooth that got stuck? can you get a good pic?

Retic not responding to antibiotics It’s mouth rot and not a tooth. Thanks for the support! I’ll just wait it out. S/he ate a couple of weeks ago after not eating for some time, so, I guess that’s a step in the right direction. I will double check the tooth thing again and try to get a good pic. Thanks!
