Sorry, doesn’t really look like a true sunfire.
That tail has some similarities, though, with the one on a small retic a got these days. Retichuck, a member here, told me he also has one like that. I called it firetail because that name just came to mind, although i have no idea on the locality background of these snakes, maybe yours is a "firetail" as well. Mine does have a stronger orange that almost fades to yellow, but yours isn’t that much different and the lack of white markings on that area is also another thing they share...
Anyway, that’s a cool little retic. Good luck with it.

He is not a true sunfire but i just got to thinking about the firetail thing... He looks almost identical to yours. I cant seem to capture his true colors. Does anyone know the story of the firetail?

I must set clear that "firetail" was a name i made up. When i first saw this little one out of the bag in daylight i thought she had an awesome tail that was a lot more bright than ordinary normals.. that’s why i named it Firetail (turns out there is a bird with that name also, lol).

I have no idea where they come from since mine was a wild caught purchase from parts unknown. Retichuck also has one, maybe he knows the locality of these. Mine is growing fast and i plan on breeding her one day so i can check out how the offspring looks, but let’s not forget that there is a chance they will change colour as they grow...

here is an older pic of my sunfires tail. she is from a breeding of a male sunfire and a normal female here are the white markings Jimmy is talking about. sunfires come in many different patterns some have less color than others, but all should have the white markers from what I have seen

That is a beautiful snake by the way, grunt!

well.. my firetail just shed for me for the first time here at my house and that tail is looking brighter than ever. So i am keeping high hopes that this trait just keeps getting stronger like yellowheads do.

Thanks for the compliment Jimmy. I would like to say the snake you call a fire tail is smoking. no pun intended
