i remember that picture, it was thought to be the world’s largest snake. a man went to a remote village where a tribe worshiped a 49 foot retic, and the man took a year to talk the natives into giving him the retic. they took the monster to that zoo, and measured it, it turned out to be less than 29 feet, or somthing like that. turned out why the natives took so long to be talked into giving their snake is that they went to find another monster snake.

Yeah, there are so many stories around about 37 foot anacondas and 49 foot retics and various Big Four species having average lengths of like twenty feet that when a snake that actually SHOULD be impressive in its own right comes around, everyone just says "Oh big deal, that one’s nothing..."
