Please help me out I have a one and a half year old male reticulated python that is a little over 8 ft long that recently stopped eating about 3 and a half weeks ago, he was eating every 5 days with a strong feeding response, but now he will not even budge for food. He is in a vision cage with flexwatt running across the entire back part of his cage, I live near chicago and it recently started getting cold out here and pretty fast (temps dropped in the last few weeks) and I fear he might have a respirtory infection. His cage tems were around 68 to 73 ambient with a spot area at 95 to 100 (50 watt spot bulb) with the flexwatt heating the back half of his cage at 83 on the floor temp. I went to the Tinley Park NARBC convention this past weekend and asked the breeder I bought him from and gave him all my ambient and floor temps and he told me I was a little cool with my temps and that my animal was the right size and age to where i might have induced a breeding response in him. He also told me it might be 3 to 5 months before he eats again, thats all fine and dandy it thats the case. Well yesturday i noticed the front of his mouth wa barely open and his upper jaw looked as if it were pertruding and his upper gums were exposed. He is very active and always trying to push his way through the front corners of his cage with his jaws , can that cause this problem with his jaw ? What should I do ?? I turned up my flexwatt (i have a herp stat) so my heated floor temp is anywhere from 88 to 94 while the front unheated part of his cage is around 72 to 78, and i left his spot area alone. The humidity is always kept in between 40 to 70 percent . I tried to snap some quick pics of him , please help me out , does he need a vet or can i turn this around or should i not worry ??? I can not seem to put my pics on here, i can email them though if anybody is willing to look at them
