OK Ive had alot of people ask me about my retics and I’m here to clear the air for advise. parents please DO NOT purchase a dwarf or normal or even super dwarf retics for your children.why u ask these snakes are not meant for inexperienced children.i would recommend u start with a corn snake or ball python. both average out around 4-6ft corns sometimes may run into a aggressive corn. retics can get easily (15-18ft) most common range there have been quite a few occasions when retics have reached 25+ ft these snakes hold the record for worlds longest snake. they have a crazy feeding response i suggest u feed them in a bin. Or atleast have a way u can let them know its (you) and not a food source. retics are extremely strong and before u even think of purchasing a retic read up alot. get a starter snake and work ya way up the snake ladder. these are gentle giants but a still dangers to the untrained and experienced person.for males i recommend 6x2x2 ft cages females 8x2x2 or larger. retic will grow average 5-8ft! retic usually get on average 5-8ft there first year so don’t think u can house them in a 20 gallon Long there first year it will not happen! keep the basking 85-95 degrees & the cool side in 75-80 degrees. i mist my retics 1 time a day. and adult retic will require large rabbits and pigs when full grown to eat. i use aspen beeding never ever use any containing CEDAR very harmful to reptiles. well i hope this has cleared the air for parents and people thinking on purchasing a retic. PS. ALWAYS check Ur local laws about weather u can have a retic in Ur city or state and if u a require a permit and please please treat these animals with respect and do not be irresponsible its hard enough being able to get these animals because of inexperienced owners.
