you can keep it in many things like a herp cage,or a 10 gal the humidity needs to be around 50-60%

you lost me when i said 14-18" i meant 14-18 inches which i thought they would need more room for a baby seeing that they like to climb?
im sorry if i sounded like a jerk?

They start out really skinny, so a ten gallon tank is quite roomy. Mine was nineteen inches when I got her, but no thicker than a pencil. If you had big hands you could actually make a loose fist and she could crawl in there and coil up unseen in your hand. So if you put some branches and plants in there so they can use all three dimensions it’s plenty roomy enough. I moved her into a 55 anyway when she reached about two feet, but she might have been okay up to almost three; I had the 55 anyway though so I figured why not? Not that it was big enough in the long run anyway.

Think 6X3X3. Or bigger. As they get heftier and fill more space, X amount of volume just doesn’t give them as much to do any more, if that makes any sense. Mine’s over twenty years old, so not even active any more really, but still if I were to actually put her in a cage I’d go at least 8X4X4. Which is why I say screw it and just keep her in the spare bedroom. Which she circles the entire perimeter of one time every morning right after sunrise before going back to being lazy again. I have no idea why. But if she wants to wander I’ll let her keep wandering.

Be careful about balancing accessibility with cover/climbing options. Like having two pieces of wood with a lot of branches on each is a lot better than having half a dozen different branches. A big fake plant is better than a couple of littler ones bunched together. If you have to take out a bunch of things to get to the snake, the snake has more time to go into a fight or flight response, whereas if you can just get in there and pick them straight up they’ll generally be less upset. Once they’re tame they ought to stay that way, but as babies they can be pretty nervous.

 Coastal carpet?

i just got a baby female coastal a lttle bit ago, the humidity is not as important but yea 50 to 60 if its lower its not a big deal, the temps id say 89 to 95 around there for the hot spot, and cool 79 to 85. i mist my cage daily fo humidty but like i said i dont worry bout that as much as the heat. and for a baby i would say no smaller then 10 gallon but bigger the better with sum branches and stuff, haha i always go all out and spend a lot of money to put stuff in the cage for her to be comfortable and climb, also to look nice. lol

I think it depends on the snake and how much you feed it. All snakes usually grow at differnt rates . My 8 month old coastal is 3ft 2inches so I guess in 4 months it should be amybe 4ft or 3 1/2 ft something around their.
