Please Help Hey everyone. Some guy wants to make a deal with me regarding a young GTP. He needs to downsize on his collection because he is moving from a house to an apartment. I have seen this snake eat and it seems to be in great health. Im new to the Green Tree Python concept and i dont know what i should pay. He says this is a "Young Green Biak Tree Python"
I dont have a pic of the exact snake, but this is a photo that looks the closest:

He wants it out the door along with most of the rest of his collection as soon as possible. I negotiated and he says he will give it to me for $180. Does that sound like a good price? This guy is my cousin’s long term friend and he seems genuinely friendly, so i would like to trust him. Is $180 for this type of snake appropriate? I would really like to get it but i dont know if it is worth it. Any tips on this species are also helpful.

Please Help The pics you posted are pics of peoples desinger chondros I doubt that the on you will get will look anything like that. Ask for pics, feeding pics and where, who he got it from. If he does not provide you with that dont trust him one bit. Also the animal could be wc if it is DONT buy it! 180$ seems pretty cheap I think their could be something wrong with that. But if you do buy it I would have some extra money just in case you do get it and it does have a problem.

Please Help 180 is really cheap. He’s either trying to scam you or he really doesn’t want it anymore. wc’s aren’t that bad, their just a bit more vicious. I don’t think that gtp’s are very well tempered anyways so it won’t really be any easier to handle either way. If you have space, money, time and you want it then go for it. I probably would. Prepare for a vet checkup if it is wc. good luck!!

Please Help Yea. Well Wc animals could have parisites, mites, alot of problems, they can also be in very bad shape I saw one at a reptile show last year it had a spinal kink and just looked like it was going to die. It was nice ( attitude wise) but it was in horrbile shape and it was 270$ I also saw another no local juvinile chondro witch looked like a Biak witch was 270$ . Not all gtps are agressive/mean they have big teeth witch would hurt if a adult bites the hell out of you. I think dont buy it, buy from a reliable breeder. I think it could be Wc soo again ask for info on the snake and pics GOOD LUCK!

Please Help Yeah, you guys are probably right. I wont buy them. Ill save up and buy from someone else. Any suggestions on breeders or vendors? I really dont care about the coloring so much as i do the price. I would rather buy a $350 chondro before i buy a $700 one.

Please Help Has anyone ever thought that this guy might really need to get rid of the snake? I know a guy whose wife was threatening to leave him because she was terrified of snakes.. and he sold 6 Ball Pythons... 2 adults and 4 babies (one was albino) for $250. I think we shouldn’t be so fast to jump the gun... my problem is.. these snakes are not for beginners... I absolutely fell in love with them... and my breeder refused to sell them to me b/c he didn’t think I had enough experience... now that I’ve researched... he was absolutely right! So, my opinion is this... if you have the experience and know what you’re getting into... and you’ve checked the snake for obvious ailments that you can detect.. and you’ve seen it feed... and you have the time and the want to... for that price.. get it.. if you can’t confirm these things.. then I wouldn’t get it... but LOTS of people buy snakes and then realize they can’t handle them and end up selling cheap... don’t be too quick to rule this out.

Please Help I know how to take care of them. I have been taking care of pythons for a long time. I just dont have enough experience with this particular species. But who does when they are starting with a new species? I know how to care for them, handle them etc. I just have never owned one before. My friend has 3, he can answer all of my questions should i have any. I just need to know where i can get one at a good price. Im addicted now lol. Been in research mode since monday of last week and havent stopped since.
