 GTP enclosure help please

Ok, im planning on getting a baby biak yellow phase or similar. I need some help setting up an enclosure. I dont have the snake yet and am not planning on getting one until i have the proper materials. I just need tips right now. I am planning on building an arboreal setup 35 inches tall 25 inches deep by 25 inches wide with a hinged acrylic door in the front. Is this sufficient? I would like some pictures of your setups and advice on constructing this cage. I would also like to know what my most cost effective choices are. Thanks!

Yea, its good. Just make sure to seal it off really well. Some live plants will be a nice touch and will provide humidity. Also a rubbermaid container will do well, Just a suggestion.

A baby gtp might be ok in a large adult sized enclosure, but it will be much more difficult to keep the humidity and temps up while it’s little.

When ready for an adult enclosure a cage 3’ wide by 2’tall x 2’ deep would be much more appropriate for a gtp rather than the extra height.

Check out www.finegtps.com for most extensive care sheets on the net for these guys. They were written by Greg Maxwell who has a lot of experience with these animals, not just word of mouth repeating what others have said without actual hands on experience.

It’s pretty simple to maintain humidity. You need two things:

1. A tightly sealed cage. No wire mesh on the top, or all the water vapor will evaporate.

2. Some kind of buffer that absorbs water and can slowly release it all day. This can be dirt, cocofiber, moss, etc. If there is no buffer, your levels will not be stable. The larger the mass of the buffer, the higher and more consistent your levels will be.
