Health question my friend has a young python, it hasn’t eaten in 2 weeks, last time it pooped just its urates came out along with its intestines. they took it to the vet, and the vet stitched it back in, but it is still happening they have taken it too the vet multiple times now, for it to be pushed back in. the vet said the could run a course of antibiotics but then as we all know there are issues, she could do surgery but it worried about its size/ thinking it may not survive. The vet said if it happens again use ky jelly or water and q tip and gently push it back in. i have never encountered this problem and don’t know what to tell her to do. i was wondering if anyone had any advice, or what quality of life this poor guy would have... putting it to sleep is the last option, anyone else dealt with this before?

Health question It sounds like rectal prolapse. It most often occurs with green tree pythons, although its not limited to them. There are different opinions as to why it happens. I’m not really sure what can be done to prevent it. Those on this site who are more experienced with Chondros may be able to give more help on this issue.
If you do attempt to re-insert the intestine yourself, be sure to wash any substrate matter from the area so it doesn’t get pushed inside the animal. I hope the python improves and please give us an update on it.
