LOL so hard to photograph. She wouldn’t stay still and was very interested in the camera.

She’s 2ft long and shed the day i got her. These pic’s were taken on that day. Unfortunatly the flash made them go bright on some of them.

I’m expecting to breed her when she’s old enough and the right size. But i will most likely get her a male in about a year or 2.

That’s a beautiful snake you have! Carpet pythons are definitely my favorites. I was just thinking the other day how small mine was when I first got it: about 18 inches. Its 4 1/2 feet now. I’m sure you will enjoy that snake very much! Thanks for sharing those pictures! :-)

Yeah and thanx i’m so happy with her. she didnt accept her food the first week that we tried and refused this weekend just gone :-( unfortunatly because of her size and how thin she is we had to force feed her which i wasnt to happy about but she couldnt miss another week, she’s about 1cm thick. TINY!!

Its all good. I only had to force feed my little girl twice. Now she takes anything I give her without thinking twice, regardless of what it is. Time to switch to rat pups this weekend! Mine was very very thin when I first got her, but remember in the wild carpet pythons may only eat 3 times a year. Just wait till shes hungry. I think it has to do with how they learn to be satisfied by eating food. It takes a while for them to get adjusted to eat food for some reason. My little girl was 6 months old, been force fed once, took food on her own once, then went on a 4 month fasting period, was force fed once more then went to taking her own food. Shes all good now. The thing is that the metabolism of snakes is so slow, that skipping two weeks worth of meals could be like us humans skipping an unneeded snack break.

=[ my baby is still not eating. she’s been force fed for the last 3 weeks in a row. I’m worried that this weekend she wont eat again. my brother has been feeding her and will be feeding her for the next few months because of a family crisis(which i can’t say) and it’s not some petty little thing it’s to do with the police, and basically i’ve been banned from going down to my nan’s(where she’s kept) until it’s all straightened out.

Another thing, sorry this doesnt have anything to do with this topic but my brother got his new burm last week, basically someone got it, found out how big it got and brought it in to the pet shop. The thing that made us so frustrated was that they brought in the snake and it had been out it’s tank for sometime and was freezing cold, then brought the tank in ages after!!!

Also i might be getting a Gecko or Beardie for Christmas.

STOP FORCEFEEDING!!!!!!!!!!!

Remember what i said before. In addition to being extremely dangerous, forcefeeding is unnecessary. Carpet Pythons may go up to two whole years without eating! Snakes have a super slow metabolism for a reason. Seriously. My good friend has a neonate jungle carpet python that just started eating after a 9 month fasting period! Its perfectly healthy for a snake to refuse meals a few weeks in a row. Please, for the health of your pet which you seem to love dearly hence "my baby"..... DONT FEED IT!

Offer your python meals on a weekly basis but dont force feed. Snakes will eat when they are hungry the same as you do. Its like forcing a meal into your stomach after you have already eaten a humongous meal. By forcefeeding, you decrease the appetite of the snake further, and you will not have your snake feeding by itself until it feels a hunger pang.

Trust me on this, ive been through it countless times before. Snakes dont eat as frequently as humans eat. They eat when they are hungry. Tell your brother to stop forcefeeding. I know he is looking after you and your pet at the moment but i cant stress enough how bad frequent forcefeeding is. As a part time breeder, the only scenario where i can reccommend forcefeeding is by getting a hatchling to eat his first meal, but only then do I encourage it.

Snakes are bred to survive, and they have for thousands of years. Your snake will eat again, trust me. But you need to give it time to get hungry. It is as simple as that.

Im sorry about your troubles, and I hope they get resolved quickly,

can u stop with the caps for gods sake thats the exact reason why i go on lizard forums because thy actually listen and don’t have a go at 13yr old kids!!!!!!!! and she was hungry the reason she wouldnt eat was because she wont take food from tweesers or when someones there. we now leave it on the heat mat and turn off all the lights and go away and 2hrs later it’s gone!!!!!!!

Plus we only force fed her 3 times and only every other week. Also we have her at tame as our ball python she doesnt even look at you when u put ur hand in the tan anymore. Oh yeah and my brothers probably got more years of experiance than you have.

I’m done with this tread. I would say good bye but it’s more of a case of BYE!!!!!!!!

thanx and no, more of a case of it’s the end of reply to trent.
she was exactly 2ft when i got her i think she’s grown an inch.
and the reason that she’s been force fed is because i saw other photo’s f babies and their no where near as tiny as her. And i didnt even pay for her, my brother bought her as a gift to me and if she dies then i can’t get another snake as for xmas i’m getting a beardie an that’ll be my xmas and birthday money of about £500.

Its all good, she’s fine, she may be a bit small at the moment. She may only grow to 4ft. My Jungle is 55cm’s and she’s 5months, but mines a Atherton and they do get bigger then the standard or Black and Gold jungles or Black and white for that matter.
I don’t wanna start anything, but it’ll stress her out by force feeding to much, she’ll be fine if she doesn’t eat for 2months or so. My Children’s python hasn’t fed since the 23/1/2008 and i’m not worried one bit. Even before he fed on the 23, I was having trouble, I fed him a pinkie and he ate it fine, you could see if that worked......

correction, she’s over 2ft and is around 3-4mnths(i think). Also she’ll get around 6ft not 4 and there has been some 8fters and even higher, although these occasions are VERY rare theres still a possibility of it happening. males get to 5ft for black and gold(common JCPs) and 4ft is incorrect. also i’m in touch with alot of breeders including Bob Clark who has also said that she should grow to at least 5ft.

I know they can get 8ft+ but the Palmerstone and Tull localality’s get to an average 4.5-6ft in captivity. Black and Gold do indeed get bigger, some do get 8ft, but not common. The most common Jungle to get 8ft would be the Atherton Jungle, but on an average, they get 5-7ft.

Sheesh carly, im only 14. You have no idea how many problems come from forcefeeding. I had such a huge fascination with these pythons, that i am apprenticing with a guy who work with these snakes for a living. I learned so much from him and I was just trying to help. As a friend ok? Im sorry that I didnt know the whole situation, but thats why we feed live animals to our snakes. It may sound inhumane but thats how nature works, it also makes the snakes excited and they take prey a lot easier than if you fed them pre killed or thawed prey. In your earlier posts you made it sound like you force fed your snake like each time you offered her food. Forgive me for offering advice for the health of your snake, i swear, i didnt mean it.

Whatever, if you have a question you can ask. I didnt mean to be rude or assumptive. This forum is made to make friends not enemies.

In England you can’t feed live food, it’s illegal and i don’t want to feed a living mousey or rat or anything to a snake, I love my snakes but I want to be a vet and I thik it’s inhumane but thats my opinion. Also I don’t want to risk something biting or scratching my snakes. Also the claws can scratch the insides of the snakes and tear their insides. I do no what force feeding does thats why i moan at my brother whenever he done it! I don’t have a say when I’m 30 miles away. And as for having a fascination with these pythons, you think I dont?! In fact I have a fascination with all reptiles. Between me and my brother we’ve had:
Green Iguana
3 water dragons
Frilled dragon
Burm
JCP(obvi)

Terapin
Leopard Gecko

And am going to get a male baby beardie.
Also we were going to breed retics until these problems started.
