  rat substitute

my 2 snakes are 2 weeks over due on food and they are starting to serch the cage for food... i wont be paid till next friday and i cant drive to mishigan city to buy rats yet ...... can i go to the grociery store and give them somthing like chicken brest or somthgin as a substitute... any suggestions???

I have heard of some snakes eating chicken. If you go that route, you’re better off using legs than breasts, since at least they have bones in them. Still a very incomplete meal, though, even assuming the snake will go for it. Whole chickens, if feasible, are better. Also, be ready for some very loose stool. Just something about bird diets.
Really, if the snakes wil eat frozen chickens, there’s no reason not to just start buying rodents in bulk and stocking up more. That doesn’t help you right now, I know, but ultimately it’s the way to go.

Ive feed a pice of steak to one of my chondros once nothing bad happen. I dont know about chicken though

Preferably with bone. If it’ll take it. Still nowhere near as good as a whole rat, but if the snake will do it, it’s something at least.

What kind of snakes? I work with many pythons and have actually seen quite a few eat sausage and even ham. Really weird, but if the snake is hungry usually theyll take meats.
